I have GD, and at the moment, it's very uncontrolled. I'm on insulin morning and night, and my blood sugars are all over the place. In the past three days i've had four hypos, going down as low as 3.0 and then a couple of hours later my BS are very high - 14-15.

I'm seeing my consultant weekly, and am not due to see her til next week now. I spoke to the diabetic nurse and she advised me to lower my morning insulin, which i have done, but am still having hypos ect.

I'm worried about any effects of my fluctuating blood sugars may have on the baby - i'm feeling dog rough with it all, and if i'm feeling this ill, i can't help but wonder whats it all doing to bubbs.

I'm almost 34 weeks, btw.

Anyone help?

I am 32 weeks and have gd mine is being controlled by metformin which is a tabley at the moment which seems to be keeping it under control. The beauty of this tablet is that you cant have hypos with it and this is why my consultant chose for me to try this before the insulin route. I have had to increase the dose as my pregnancy has progressed and can only increase once more however it has kept it quite regulated. Maybe you could ask to try this tablet if it is the hypos that are worrying you.

The impact on the baby my consultant said is obviously it getting bigger but if blood sugar is to high on delivery the baby will need scbu as they can go into hypo. Have you had a scan to see how big bubs is?

I had one 2 weeks ago and she was 5lb, i have another scan in 10 days. She is big though as she has ripped my tummy muscles from top to bottom and it hurts x You have my sympathies i feel like crap and my sugars are pretty ok at the moment, i have been sleeping for around 4 hours during the day
