With my last baby I had high bp and had to stay in hospital til it went down. Was given tablets to help. The midwife said it is the father fault. Does anyone know or experienced it before. I am pregnant again and was thinking could it happen again in pregnancy?

Fathers fault? As in genetic or stressing you out?

For what its worth my BP was awful in first pregnancy - in and out of hospital, often 160/95 type thing.

With my second it was normal all the way through

In genetics? It was only at the end though.
Never heard of bp being down to father.

It is quite possible that there may be a genetic link. I know there is a genetic link (to the father) for when a mum gives birth (so blame him if overdue )

A genetic link only means a risk though - it does not mean a definite. Risk of high blood pressure is lower in subsuquent pregnancies too. Hopefully they will just keep an eye on you

I was told that the father thing was related to pre-eclampsia. I had high BP in pregnancy one which developed into mild pre-eclmpsia.
When preganant again I asked the midwide the likelihood of high BP/Pre Eclampsia and she asked if it was the same partner. She explained something to do with what is in the sperm and the womans body recognising it again and becoming immune to whatever causes high BP/Pre Ec.
My 2nd pregnancy I spent 1 night in hosp compared to 5 weeks with first pregnancy .

Could be a load of old bunkam but I was definately told this!!
