I haven't got any stretch marks - no tearing then?

I'm 37 weeks with no stretch marks and a big bump - does this mean by any chance that I'm less likely to tear?- I've got this hope that is does!

hi there, i have no idea about any sort of science behind this but my experience was hideous stretch marks and a v nasty 3rd degree tear.my sister had about 2 stretch marks and did not tear at all. you are so lucky to have escaped stretch marks and I really do hope that you escape from any tears aswell.congrats on your pregnancy and I hope all goes well with the birth

No stretch marks with twins but a bad 3rd degree tear here... think it was forceps related though. Hope it goes well for you

I had no stretch marks either time but both times I tore. Sorry.

I can't answer on the tearing thing as ended up with EMCS with DS, but just wanted to say don't count your chickens! I had a huge bump (DS 12lb 12oz) with no stretch marks until 41 weeks and then they literally took over like a road map in my second week of being overdue. I am now 30 wks but with twins (and measuring 40 weeks) and no new stretch marks but this time I'm not thinking that means I've escaped, given how late they came on last time! Was so gutted!

Nr 1 no stretch marks but 25 stitches and about a year of problems and not completely right until nr2

Nrs 2 & 3 lots of stretch marks and then even more and slight grazing with each.

Sorry!

No stretchmarks here but 2nd degree tear. DS did have a massive 37cm head!!

i had no stretch marks with DD and I had 2nd degree tear. Whether you tear in labour is more to do with how controlled the final stages of the labour at. It was very uncontrolled for DD (as she was distressed they were going to medical intervention and i was pushing as hard as possible). With DS the final stage of labour was very controlled, I didn't push and he came out very slowly.... no tearing.

also hate to break this to you my stretchmarks with DS all appeared between 38 and 40 weeks!!!!

My sister has dreadful stretchmarks (dr said it was the worst he had ever seen) and she didn't tear - on all three pregnancies.

I had no stretchmarks with either pregnancy, and had a 3rd degree tear with dd1 (7 1/2 lb) and a 2nd degree tear with dd2 (7 1/2 lb). I really don't think it bears any relation sorry!

No stretchmarks right up until the last week - and I tore, but not badly. DS came out with his arm up by his head as well which is supposed to mean lots of tearing. They reckoned I was ok because I had spent a lot of time in the pool (delivered on dry land) and that had softened me up a bit. I have a feeling I wouldn't have torn if I hadn't given birth on my back but I will never know.

No stretchmarks here but a 2nd degree tear. I don't think there is a correlation either on how stretchy you are!

you still have plenty of time left to get stretchmarks btw

I had/have no stretch marks dd1 7lb 3oz - 2 stitches, dd2 8lb 13oz - 1 stitch.

TBH once the baboon feeling had gone I didn't even notice them (think I got off lucky mind).

Seems there isn't really a correlation but I'll throw in my two experiences of overdue pregnancies (42 & 41 weeks, both induced):

No stetch marks with either, a graze with the first, nada with the second.

Hoping to follow that pattern again...

No stretch marks, no tearing, all three times.

Seems like a bit of a mixed bag so will have to wait and see! I'll keep slapping on the old bio oil like I've done throughout, do a bit of the 'massage' and hope for the best!

No stretch marks but 3rd degree tearing HOWEVER I had an induction with epidural and ventouse and so can't say what would have happened had I not been interfered with.

bloody hell Herbie!! That is quick, and sounds a bit better than DS1 who got well & truly stuck, crowning 3hrs before I actually managed to get him out!

I don't think DP has a particularly big bonce, maybe I do!!!

I am 40+2 and had no stretch marks at all until a week ago, can't comment on the tearing (fingers crossed I won't). I have applied oil & moisturiser religiously throughout but have massively expanded over the last couple of weeks, hope you make to to the end without!!
