Ohh pregnant in this heat!

Thought I would have a little moan! I am 30 + 5 and live in Dorset, it has to have been almost 30 degrees today! It is hard work being pregnant in this heat and difficult not being able to wear short skirts/shorts and little vest tops!

Anyone else feeling the same?

I remember feeling the same nine years ago! My ds1 was born on 21st June and it was scorching hot in the few weeks leading up to that. Can't you buy maternity short dungarees anymore? I still have a pair somewhere...

I do have a couple of maternity skirts but they are not the same! Not too long left now though, I think I will have to go shopping tomorrow as apparently this weather is with us for a while! (I am 31 +5 not sure why I put 30!!)

Yes - I was going to raise the same moan!

I'm 28 weeks - I its like living in a steamer!I'm even more doopey and slow than normal! I hope we will get some sleep.

If you want to wear little vest tops etc - you feel free! - I've just got out of my sons paddling pool dressed in an oversized t-shirt and pants - the height of fashion and sophistication!
I'm looking forward to the thunderstorm they promise tomorrow!

Stay cool Helen

I'm at 39+1 and it is bloody wretched! Managed to fit into some shorts, and even contort myself to shave my legs this morning so I wouldn't completely disgrace dh when we got to Sainsburys later

Unfortunately nesting has taken hold so despite the heat of the last two days, we have been taking stuff to the tip or out to the garage - and we live on the second floor. Could have timed that better, I feel.

Horrendous isn't it? I am 31 weeks and wearing elasticated (non-maternity) shorts which means the leg holes are stretched to the size of tree trunks and a vest top which doesn't reach my belly button. DH has roared with laughter every time I've walked into a room, all afternoon...

Yeh - support tights in this weather - loving it. Was preg with my first during the summer & just sweated it out. Now have 3 kids to run after in the summer hols - no chance of putting my feet up and just relaxing.

I remember last Aug when I was 39 wks it was scorching for a time - couldn't sleep, couldn't walk anywhere and had 2 toddlers to deal with too- hell on earth! YOu have my sympathy!

can sympathise - was pregnant through part of an aussie summer - had dd2 last November. Temps in the mid to high 30's some days - low 30's most days from Sept. At home I had large drawstring cotton shorts which i wore with big loose t-shirts.. often tucked shirt under boobs (into bra) and let belly 'breathe'. Also wore my sarong with vests..... so much cooler .

Spent time lazing on the hammock out on our deck or in our playroom downstairs - very cool. Needless to say was very glad when dd2 finally came.

ALso used to damp a face cloth and keep it in the fridge to rub over the back of my neck and my face - very cooling.

Big sympathy to you. DS was born in the '95 heatwave, 2 weeks overdue (mid August) at 9lb 6oz. His saving grace was that he was born in less than 1 hour

Far too hot! Am in the middle of a load of night shifts, and i've had no sleep during the day today, as even my trusty fan makes me feel like a roasting chicken in a fan-assisted oven

Definitely having a winter baby next time!

After 3.00am and still awake - so hot and so grumpy!

I hope this heat ends soon! My son was born in December - didn't imagine a summer baby would be quite so tough!

Oh well only 10 weeks to go! urrrrrrrrr

sympathies to you all. I am finding this winter here in Aus sooo cold - last year I had a little heater who made me not feel the heat so much - but as I siad earlier - no good when she was born in November.

Just realised I must bemad - two summer babies - dd1 was born in the UK in August - hot as... although she was only just 6lb and I was not carrying too much else with her. Dd2 born in Nov in Australia but she was 9lb 7oz and this time I felt it all.

Still - my tip about the face cloth - run it under the cool water and keep it in the fridge then wipe your face, back of the neck, even elbow and knee joints when you need it- really does help keep you cool.

Oh I really feel for you. I was seven months pregnant this time last year and felt absoulutly terrible. Hated it. The heat made my legs swell more than they already were so I just looked awful!!!
Try and stay cool. Drink lots and keep a little fan with you. Also just think it will all be over soon!
