Im currently 40 + 2 weeks pregnant and for the last 3 weeks have experienced what feels like the baby having spasms (the only way I can describe it), my husband describes it as vibrations. I know that it isnt hiccups as I can define that and it isnt braxton hicks either. It happens mainly when I am lying on either my right or left hand side but has happened a couple of times when I have been sitting up. However, this morning, it has changed from a spasm to what feels like shuddering - which lasts for a few seconds but happens at least 3 or 4 times in a row and then nothing for a while and then happens again. I mentioned the spasms to the midwife on Wed and she has been a mw for 32 years and had never heard of this so sent me to get the baby monitered on a fetal heart moniter and all was fine but these spasms didnt happen during the moniter. Basically Im concerned as I havnt been given a definitive answer as to what it could be and Im quite anxious as it has changed from the spasm which was very quick like a muscle spasm to now being a shuddering motion.

Anxious first time mum to be.

Thanks Michelle

Ring MW again this morning and say you are extremely anxious about this and would like to be checked again.

I had some very strange movements when I was pg with my three and it can be worrying can't it?

Do ring MW to set your mind at rest.

Hi

Even my hubby is concerned about it and he is the most laid back and positive man you could meet. He has even said, what if it is epilepsy (not sure that a baby can develop that). As I mentioned as they didnt give me an answer it doesnt really help put my mind at rest. I just want the baby to arrive now. When you said you had some very strange movements, did you ever experience anything like this?

Thanks for your response.

Michelle

I am not experiencing this, but I am sure I read in some discussion a while ago, that some people were feeling their baby shaking or shivering.
Even if your MW said that every thing was fine, call her again and insist that something is not right.
Good luck
