When is an evaporation line not an evaporation line?

Ok. With two DC's already I should know the answer to this one.

I did a CB non digi test this morning. I thought a very faint line came up straight away - but really really faint. Type of line you had to squint and hold in the light to see and most people wouldnt be able to see it .

So I left it in the bathroom, went out and came back about 2 hours later to it. Picked it up to have another squint and jumped out of my skin. It is a bold positive - see it a mile off, bright blue, thick. You really cant deny its a positive at all.

In my experience evaporation lines have been faint or really thin or not the right colour. This is a definite positive line - but outside the time limit. I have never ever known in all my considerable peeing on a stick experience that to happen.

I know I need to take another test - but was wondering what you thought? Any experiences like this?

I did something similar with my last pregnancy, took the test 10DPO (sore boobs gave it away) and watched as the faintest line took ages to come up - wasn't really sure so left it and looked at it again after an hour and it was really obvious that it was a positive.
IMO an evap line wont dry in to a positive line that you can really see, Congratulations BTW

If you left it in the bathroom befroe the 'read before x mins' was up then it may well have developed in that time - do another test and watch it like a hawk for the entire time!

With my current pregnancy I had a feint squinty line immediately then a line after 2 mins and a super dark line after 5 mins.

Sounds positive to me - the really faint squinty line wouldn't be an evaporation line if you saw it straight away (ie under 5 mins) and you don't get even a faint line with no HCG. Congratulations

Eek. I am 11 - 12 dpo I think. No PMT which is what made me test. Sore boobs but I am still breastfeeding - DD being very fussy.

I have never seen an evap line like this - it has to be positive I think.

DH is going to freak out . We ironically had a conversation this month where he agreed to a third but decided we would wait til the DC's (3 and 1) were in school. It appears that having this conversation has made me pregnant .

Will do the other test tomorrow. I am not sure what I want the answer to be - I wanted another baby but its too soon, no money etc etc. A baby is always a positive deep down though.

ARGHHH!

((((((PeppaPig))))))

Lets hold hands till the shock subsides

With mine I saw a faint line almost straight away (well after the line in the second window appeared) but it has faded away and I'm now doubting that it was ever there in the first place! It was extremely faint and I had to take it to the window and tilt it to see it. Could it be an evaporation line?

I'll also be doing another test tomorrow first thing. Eeeeek!

Have you told your DH? Will you? I think I might be being premature so will wait a bit I think and see what tomorrows test says.

i had a very very faint line straight away with my ebay cheapies at 8dpo (the line was a faint grey shadow colour) so i used the CB digital pg test and now have a dd2

Bunoven (or whoever you really are!). Thats what happened with mine yesterday - a line which disappeared in the next 30 seconds - one minute or so. Today this. I havent told my DH as I am not certain - will see what tomorrow brings. No need to give him a heart attack prematurely

Heres to POAS tomorrow then...

bigbangerslips - eek. I am getting faint but there thick lines on cheapies. Very faint. CB is defnitely darker.

Sitting here shocked staring at DD (13 months) and thinking about picking DS up from nursery. EEK!

What is POAS?

Pee On A Stick?

What time do you get up?
I feel sick....but it could just be nerves.

Morning Peppapig!

I bet you've been awake for hours. I was awake at 5am and thought about POAS then but waited until a more respectable hour.

I hope you get the result you want - I'll be thinking of you x

I was up at five yes

I still am not sure

I did another clearblue and it came up positive straight away - no squinting, could see it at arms length despite it being 5 am, thick blue line. Then over the course of the 10 minutes it faded. It was still definitely there. Faint but a real faint line. Not a made up faint line

Looking at it now - yes I have brought it to work with me - you can still see the line thick and blue but very faint. I also did a first response (going to be bankrupt) and that was negative - or perhaps a tiny line if you really really squint. A cheapie internet one had a faint line. Yes I am obsessed.

I am really confused and just want an answer. I can cope if I know I am pregnant - its the wondering I cant cope with. I am not even sure when my period is due. I am on CD 30 I think. I am sure I Ov'd on day 17 / 18 so would be due sat or sun? Its so hard as I am still breastfeeding - which incidentally was quite painful this morning. My cycles are usually 28 - 30 ish days.

I dont feel right which is why I tested.

Well, I'd say it's pretty definite that you're pregnant then! I don't think it matters if they fade after ten minutes...it's the result in the window after 1-3 minutes that matters.

The Clearblue tests are supposed to be quite accurate, and as well as the CB, you've had a positive First Response and a positive cheapy test, even if they were faint.

I think Congratulations are in order!

You need to invest in one of those hideously expensive fancy clearblue digital ones which will tell you either way.

Good luck!!!

I think 'my god what have I done' is in order . I am just confused - I need an answer either way so I can deal with it. Feel crampy and my boobs are sore but then again I feel like that with AF too.

Perhaps I could take it into my lecture this morning and ask 100 students whether they can see a line or not

Dee yes I have resigned myself to getting one - boots have them on offer thankfully.

I think something is going on - whether it is just too early or the pregnancy isnt viable I'm not sure. Waiting game I guess.

First response lines are always thin - and can be faint too in the beginning, the fact that you got other positives means you are pregnant, Just do the clearblue one and that should tell you what everbody else knows congratulations!

I think CONGRATULATIONS are in order. My CB faded too and made me doubt it but the scan I had 2 weeks ago said it is definitely right.

We had a similar conversation about sticking to 1 for a while - those conversations DO make you pregnant no sex involved!

I'm sure you'll very quickly get used to the idea. Especially as you were intending on having another DC one day anyway - it's just happened a little sooner than expected!

I am quite

Do you want to be pregnant for me Bun? oops - really? I googled it a bit and it said that didnt count as a positive but it was a clear line that lasted a minute or so then just got lighter.

I have them all in my bag and keep having to have a look like that will change things somehow. Someone will catch me in a minute...

If I get a clearer answer then I can start to deal with the panic of three children under four and working with little family support

Just a thought - do you think the fact that I am still breastfeeding could alter the level of hormones in any way? I know it doesnt affect whether a test is positive or not but perhaps could explain the time delays and weird fading.

Just looked at test and it is a stronger positive again. I am now convinced CB do this on purpose to make you go out and get a digital!

((((((Peppa))))))

Sorry, didn't mean to be flippant, I know it's worrying.

I really don't think BF would affect the results.

Have you talked to your DH yet? Just sharing this all with him might help ease the pressure on you a little bit - a problem shared and all that. He might be able to help you put a positive spin on things too. I can understand how daunting it all is but sometimes things aren't as bad as we imagine they will be.

Go for the digital test. You know you want to!
Maybe wait and do it with your DH over the weekend. Then you can tackle everything head on together.

Good luck x

do a control test. -

get good quality test test FMU or urine when you haven't been to loo for 4 hours and no excess drinking

use a beaker to collect and test with that,

then use water

then use a def non preg person to do one

You wil see difference

Or get a digital.

Good luck.

I have managed to clear my afternoon so think a starbucks and a digital test are in order

I know you are not being flippant Bun, and deep down a positive test would be a good thing. Just a bit overwhelming right now. I'm not sure DH would be much help - he is quite practical and wouldnt understand the torment of knowing or not knowing. If he was a woman he would be the type waiting til he was 2 weeks late to test.

oops I may well be joining you there then.

Liaghen I might just do that. Need to remortgage at this rate!

My DH would be the same actually

He was quite happy to accept the Neg test this morning but already I'm thinking of buying another I just can't get that positive one yesterday out of my mind and no AF yet. Prob just down to my new pill though I guess.

Anyway, enjoy your Starbucks and let us know what the digital says.
