Just wanted to say good luck and good on yer bumptobabies. I had a doula last year for the birth of my DS3 and she was fab. Wish I'd had one for births number 1 and 2!

I am not having any more though so you're not practising on me

bumptobabies Thu 16-Jun-05 11:27:22

yeh i wish ihad one too but like you im not having anymore, thanks for the encouragement

ixel Thu 16-Jun-05 12:16:04

Could you give an idea of how much it'd be? We were thinking of a doula as there's no one to look after ds except dh, so I might well be having number 2 alone. But I really haven't decided if its the right thing for me to have one.Or if we can afford it! But if you could CAT me a few more details I'd be grateful!

Hi Bump - yes, I definately want a doula. I'm 15/16 weeks - expecting twins. Can you send me a private message.

Please excuse my ignorance but what is a doula?

bumptobabies Thu 16-Jun-05 21:11:04

hi nat, a doula is a woman who supports a woman emotionaily and pysically before during and after working together on birth plans, providing up to date info to enable a woman to make an informed choice if she so wishes.
a doula offers support throughout the birth in a non medical capasity ie massage, positioning, encouragement, empowering partners.basically enableing you to strive for the experiance you want in a realistic and encouraging mannor.
a doula can also offer postnatal support whether it be housework, emotional support, looking after the family so you can rest, whatever you need really.
sorry if i ramble
