At night and for a few hours after i wake up im getting pains up the back of my legs right up to the back of my thighs. At night they just wont go away and its driving me mad. Any ideas as to what it could be or any suggestions to ease the pain?

Hi jelly

Does it feel like cramps in your legs? I get them badly at night, mainly in my calves. I read that if you push your heel backwards (ie push your toes down) - like the opposite of stretching the calf muscle) it stops the cramp.

The pain wakes me up when it starts, and I used to try stretching the muscle, but since I've read this I've tried doing it the other way and so far it has worked.

Hope this helps

Its weird, mostly it hurt where my bum meets my thigh, just a constant cramp that wont go. My legs are achy along with it. But its hurts so much it wakes me and keeps me up too, and doesnt help my bad back :-(

Ive been doing a few streches but nothing seems to unease it

Sounds a bit like sciatica? Sadly I also have that at the moment! I get that anywhere from my back, right through my bum and into my thigh. It's not like a constant pain but twinges every so often.

Might be worth you going to see your GP? I went last week as I'm getting a few different back pains and she's sent me to physio.

Not looking forward to being poked and prodded though

Does sound like sciatica, very common in pg. Use a pillow between your knees when sleeping - it should help ease off some of these aches. Excercise, particularly Yoga helps too

In extreme cases a chiropractor should be able to help - make sure qualified to deal with pregnancy
