Hello All,

This is my very first post on this wonderful website so I'm just going straight in the deep end.

My partner and I have just started TTC (forgive me if I get some of the acronyms wrong here!) and - since I have spent my whole adult life trying not to get PG - I assumed as soon as I came off the pill I would achieve my goal on the first "go". As it happens, I'm still very much within those parameters and my period (if there is one) will arrive this sunday. Here's what I've been experiencing so far: very, sore and sensitive nipples, lower back-ache, and an increased amount of (normal looking) discharge. This morning I had a very light pink discharge. In your (excellent!) opinions does this mean I might be up the duff or just headed for a mean period as this would be the first "true" one since coming off the pill?

Any advice very gratefully received.

This way madness lies, I'm afraid. I convinced myself I had morning sickness when ttc dd2, and then had two late periods to boot. Your symptoms could be either - my top tip is to wait at least a week after you're due, and then use a decent quality test kit. It is too easy to drive yourself mad otherwise!

Good luck.

Thanks Habbibu - In fact I have already taken a test which came back negative... I'm just so excited about the prospect of becoming a mother, it's hard to wait. Roll on the next couple of weeks without a visit from AF!

Hi jumblequeen and welcome to mumsnet. Lower backache and a strange feeling in my nipples were my earliest pregnancy symptoms. It is all too easy to obsess about symptoms though, you can think yourself into feeling the symptoms you want. And quite often pregnancy symptoms can also be the sign of your period coming. Don't get your hopes too high... but good luck.

I had those symptoms too and the pink smear of blood.....

..which turned out to be implantation bleeding, as i was indeed pregnant both times!

BigusBumus - hurrah!

I've just done a bit of research online... It seems the super-cheap pg tests I've bought aren't that reliable! On another note, which tests would you all recommend?

All the supermarket own brand ones and also superdrugs own are made by the same people who make Clearblue. They just use the older technology for them, whereas the CB branded ones use the latest tech. But the quality is the same. (I used to work there).

Also, there is no such thing as a false positive. So if you get a positive line, you are def pregnant. This is because the hormone in your wee that makes the line appear (HcG) is ONLY made when you are pregnant. You can get false negatives though.

Good luck, JumbleQueen!
