One2One midwife

I've just been told I can have a one 2 one midwife, I'm over the moon.

I rang the birthing unit where I want to have Lottie and was chatting to this really lovely lady, a midwife, and as we were talking it came up in conversation that Lottie has Down's syndrome. She then asked me if I would like her to be my midwife throughout my pregnancy, she'll give me prenatal care at home or I can go to the hospital now and then if I like and she'll deliver the baby for me, either at home or at the birth unit.

We got on so well on the phone and I'm just over the moon that I'll have the same person, either her or if she's on holiday her partner, throughtout the entire pregnancy. She only lives round the corner from me as well.

I just had to share it as I'm so, so happy.

Thats good TC - ive got a nominated mw as well. She works as a part of a team of 5, but will introduce me to everyone before the big day. She is fantastic and does all my ante-natals at home too. I only had to go to hospital for my scans.

That is fab TC, just how it should be Am so glad after all your worry a few weeks ago.

So might you be going for a home birth?

It just feels like things are goning to be okay. What with this pregnancy feeling so different from last time, seeing bubs so active yesterday, the great hospital, all the kind staff and now this, I just feel good inside which I haven't really felt since I first found out. I can't stop smiling again

Don't tell D about the home birth, I mentioned it to him and he got really scared! But if when my midwife arrives and I'm well established and feel I want it, then yeah no reason why not. I would like a home birth yes but it wouldn't break my heart if it didn't happen, the birthing unit is the next best thing and I might get to have a water birth this time. I wanted it with Lottie but when it came to it i would not/could not move and knew I needed to be standing up.
