unable to orgasm in pregnancy

Although I am enjoying sex whilst being 8 weeks pregnant I feel like my body sort of shuts down when I would normally be having a lovely orgasm. When I did have orgasms at about 5 weeks and earlier it was painful and crampy, like period pains. I hope someone can tell me that this gets better, I have read lots of posts about fabulous orgasms, am I right in suspecting that that happens later in a pregnancy? Hello, by the way, my first new thread. Thanks for having me!

Welcome, babyanddog.

All I can say is keep trying. Your body changes in so many ways during pregnancy that it's hard for you and your partner to keep up. DH and I had quite a few failed attempts in the first trimester - whatever we tried just didn't feel right, the things we used to do didn't feel quite the same... and he wasn't allowed anywhere near my boobs, as they were so painful, which was quite hard for him to get used to.

Now I'm 25wks, we're having lots of fabulous sex, and orgasms come more easily and feel more powerful than they did before I was pregnant.

Just try not to put any pressure on yourselves, tell your partner what feels nice and what doesn't, take your time, relax and enjoy yourselves.

Good luck!

Thank you so much, I am very reassured by your reply

We will keep trying (in a relaxed, spontaneous way), and hopefully I will be posting comments in the great sex threads soon xx

I've more or less given up I've been finding it so much effort to orgasm since pregnant and it takes so long I've resigned myself to orgasmless sex for now. Big sigh. It does happen occasionally and when it does I'm over the moon. I'm 23 weeks. Can anyone tell me it gets better???
