I have namechanged and also posted in employment. Still in shock only did test to stop my paraonia at strange symptoms except it was positive.

Ds is breastfed so as far as I figure the maximum I could be is 12 weeks (10 weeks since we resumed relation with bloody condoms).

I work in local government what will happen? I don't want to put ds in nursery and rush back christ he feeds constantly and is only little.

Anybody got any words of wisdom / reassurance?

No idea how to tell dp tonight thats a whole other thread

arrghh did a second test (clearblue digital) and it came up BFN. Now I'm going mad. First one was a superdrug and came up BFP really quickly and I thought they were pretty reliable???

Hellllllllllllllllppppppppppppppp

Just sent dp back to sainsburys need to know either way. thing is have not had period and we were using condoms and we are in our thirties and sensible and should know how to use the damn things by now so maybe it is bfn???? But I only tested cos I have had symptoms for weeks and wanted to stop wondering

The superdrug ones are more sensitive (alot)than CBD, thats why.

not sure on the emplyment thing, but you may end up doing back to back maternity leave.

Thats what I thought divvy. I'm a bit less frantic this evening as dp was lovely and didn't freak out and says we'll manage somehow (3 kids in a 2 bed flat???).

Would like to KNOW though either way. Its ironic whenever anyone in my family has said they got pregnant by accident used condoms etc can't believe it etc I secretly have felt they got pissed forgot and are lying. karma for me

Are you tesing again today? Good luck!

If its positive, you know you need to get seen quickly so that you get a dating scan dont you?

Hope it goes the way you want it to.

Well we tested again. 'first wee' A first response negative and a clearblue negative. Still wondered about the superdrug one so sent DP out for more superdrug ones and I've done one and its positive.

So I'm either very early pregnant or have had a symptomless miscarriage and picking up left over hcg or maybe perhaps according to google I could have an ovarian cyst.

I think I'm pregnant and first response and clearblue are just crap.

We are panicking about money and space and a bit embarrassed. I'm irish so the whole irish twins slagging is going to be awful.

BUT we love our kids and how could we be sad about another one from the same mould as such.

Off to docs monday to try and get a clearer picture.

I would say very early pregnant then, as the superdrug ones 10 miu, where the clearblue are 25 miu. Lower the num ber detects lower hcg. So you would get a positive on the superdrug ones a few days before it went positive on anything else.

An ovarian cyst wouldnt give you pos preg test

"I'm irish so the whole irish twins slagging is going to be awful." Dont understand this?

Good luck

'Irish twins' = children very close together, like within a year.

Good luck - hope you get the result you want.

My Clearblue negative is kicking my bladder at this very minute.

Congratulations.

Divvy the catholic church is very against contraception and very closely spaced siblings have always been common in Ireland and as charitygirl says became known as Irish twins.

I however am not at all a practising catholic and have always actively practised contraception and well up until now family planning

You could be having twins if you are getting negative tests as the increase in hormone levels isn't always picked up with a test early on.

tomatefarcie, i remembered this afternoon that I have never used any other brand than superdrug with Dc's 1 and 2. basically bought a twin pack of those got positives and went on from there. maybe they would have been clearblue neagtives too!

Fab Dont think thats helpful!

Breastfeeding can make you ovulate more than one egg at a time!

I have never heard of Irish-Twins before. I take it its not bad term to use?

Report
denialandpanic · 10/10/2009 20:02

oh good lord guys stop with the twins already!

I don't think the phrase irish twins is derogatory i certainly won't be upset by it just a little sheepish

off to investigate this twins angle. Shall not be mentioning that to dp hes had enough shocks for one week!

I always used a 99p test from my chemist for my ds, the cheaper ones are very good normally, congrats

denialandpanic · 11/10/2009 09:47

so i did another clearblue (non digital) and a superdrug this morning. clearblue negative and superdrug a faint line after four minutes. That represents all the tests we had and I'm sensible enough not to buy anymore.

I really have to conclude a chemical pregnancy or horrid gynae issue as surely with 'first wee' lines should be getting stronger not weaker! (very first test mid afternoon came up strong and quick)

I am wistfully relieved not to be pregnant as Ds is still such a little baby and it did represent financial ruin for us but I am slightly scared as to gynae issues. I have some right sided pain (had in both previous pregnancies plus have endometriosis) so I guess I better get checked out tomorrow to rule out ectopic etc

arrrghhh

deffo rule out ectopic but even if it is one then it does sound like it might be self-resolving. right sided pain might also just be cyst popping.

my friend had one like this last year they made her come back for weks for tests to check. So tempted just to try and ignore but she would march me up to docs herself

oh you mustn't let it go unchecked, that would be idiotic tbh. it's just a serial beta hcg test, just some bloods, no worries.

It is possible to have positive tests when not pregnant. Did you have any problems with your placenta after your reent birth?

Report
LoobyLou82 · 11/10/2009 21:11

hi

this may be wrong but i think i read this somewhere,

it take a long time for the hormone to leave your body after giving birth and as you are still bf then the trace of hormone in your urine could jst be from your last preg......?

I would go see doctor tho to be sre, could have been a chem preg tho too, but best see doc, either way if you were preg then the test would get darker not lighter, if ou are bf then there is only a small chance of becoming preg (still a chance tho) but it is not that common to happen if you have fed dc 100% of the time without using formula.

no placenta problems that were noticed anyway. I will feel very silly if it is possible that its leftover hcg from ds2. hes 17 weeks now though can this happen?

Docs apt this afternoon will see what they saw. PIL's are here today shall have to think of a good excuse

Very nice understanding doc this pm suggested hcg blood test tomorrow see doctor thursday and repeat if positive to see if rising or falling and then go from there. So answers of some sort possible before the weekend.

She felt a pregnancy whether viable, threatened miscarriage or miscarriage most likely rather than cysts, weird hormone levels etc.

She really was lovely

Not sure what I'm wishing for at this point but will cope whatever just glad I will know soon
