Anyone else got a BFP & has a phobia about vomiting?

I'm worrying about morning sickness, so far just waves of nausea but don't too awful & if I keep eating I'm ok. I have a phobia about being sick so the sickness really is in the back of my mind & I feel panicky whenever the nausea comes. Just thinking if I'm this bad at 5/6 weeks how bad am I going to be feeling in a few more weeks.

You might not get any MS, I haven't either time. I'm very lucky that I've rarely been ill in my whole life and it must be years and years since I have been sick and it is a huge fear of mine being sick or other people being sick. Luckily no MS and dd has never really been sick.

Fingers crossed and congratualtions

Hi roundabout

Really feeling for you -
Im also phobic and now 13 weeks and suffering. This is DC2 and the ms is much much worse than DC1 though that that felt like the end of the world at the time. Before i got pregnant the fist time i thought ms would cure the phobia - it didnt for me but maybe it has for others? Had the phobia so long i dont actually throw up(though come quite close on several occasions recently) but feel utterly dreadful probably made worse by the underlying panic.

The first things is you might be ok Ms is so random in the way it effects people. Take each day as it comes and each day is step closer to feeling better. There are strategies for reducing the symptoms slightly (and lots of sympathy) on old ms threads. Acupuncture works a bit for me (though need a lot of sessions) and lots of drugs available - ive just started taking metacloprimide as the cyclzine didnt do much. mostly the drugs seem to stop you actually being sick rather than reducing the nausea. Its an good idea to start trying things now as if you do get the nausea badly you wont be able to do much.

I think the phobia makes me quite risk averse so i hardly leave the house or attempt to cook partly becuase i feel awful but also so i can stay in control and not throw up iyswim but means DP has been a single parent for the past 7 weeks.

good luck you can always have a big old moan on mumsnet!

Not everybody gets it. I didn't puke once.

roundabout1 I also have a fear of being sick - I've been pregnant five times (two MCs). I am 35 weeks now with baby number 3 and I've been very lucky not to be sick at all with any of the pregnancies, just nausea. But I clearly remember being 5/6 weeks like you are terrified this time I was going to be sick.

You might not feel worse than you do now. Or even if you do feel more sicky you might not actually be sick. I had a lot of nausea weeks 6-11. I do feel for you though but it really is worth it - you are growing your little baby

Just repeating what others have said - you may not actually be sick. I wasn't, despite having nausea for about 6 weeks. I found that I had to eat almost constantly to keep the nausea at bay, but at least I wasn't being sick.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I have an inner ear disorder so regularly get nausea & vertigo so you would think I would be used to it but I think that's what's worrying me so much. Wondering if that & the ms will lead to awful symptoms. Am eating non stop at the moment trying to keep it at bay!

I share your fear. I've had no vomiting in four pregnancies, even with twins, but I did feel nauseous for weeks with them. The biggest help was chewing gum to cope with the awful taste in my mouth. I hope you are as lucky. With my first I had one week of nausea and then it cleared up completely.

Hi Roundabout1, we chatted a couple of weeks ago. Congrats on you bfp

I have a vomiting phobia but have never actually been sick during pregnancy so far despite considerable nausea.

Post birth has been a different story - you get exposed to all sorts of nasty bugs! I had avoided being sick for about 14 years (bar one very drunken incident) until then!
