for those of us nowhere near week 12 and not ready to tell, but don't want people to start guessing because we're bursting out of our clothes! all ideas welcome!

Glad you've started this. I'm only just PG but I need new winter clothes and refuse to buy stuff I'll be out of soon ( if like last time I was in maternity by about 12 weeks).

I wear pregnancy trousers (as they seem to hide the bump better) with a long and loose polo shirt, which doesn't cling.

The thing is,it's not really my bump which is so noticeable (altho second time round it is BIG!) it is my sudden double chin and general weight gain (and I'm only 8 weeks!)

Have to say, i am loving the whole "boyfriend shirt" and leggings thing going on right now, I started with that when i was at the cover up stage and it's still working at 21 weeks (although DH is now sick of me stealing his shirts!) Primark have a brilliant (cheap!) long shirt dress with big front pockets that covers a multitude. Also Flo & fred at Teso have got some great drapy cardies and long checky shirts, as well as a lovely long batwing-sleeved jumper that is only £14. Ponchos and capes also seem to be doing the rounds again which is ace if you don't want to fork out for a maternity coat too!!!! Matalan have a nice black and white poncho which I think was £25, Tesco have them as cheap as £12 but they are not as thick and cosy.

I have some floaty summer blouses (need to be decent length) that I wear over tight long sleeved plain T-shirts. Depends on how smart you need to be but works well for me!

skinny/slim-fit jeans (preferably black) or smart black maternity trousers for work

tops- nothing clingy, go for floaty big tops, or shirts (actual shirts) in 1 size up from pre-pregnancy

for work, if you need it, maybe a silk top that kind of hangs down, not maternity. Or I often wear a shirt in my usual pre-pregnancy size with a jumper over it. Another good one is oversized cardies

Also, padded bras (!) make tummy look smaller

you need to know the elastic band and button trick

do you know it?

normal trews, loop an elastic band through the button hole and through itself

you can then use that to loop round the button

it gives you a couple of extra inches in normal trousers so saves you money and prevents you moving into hideous leggings
