Hello - I'm 18 weeks and for the last 3 weeks have been suffering with pelvic pain (front & fack), back ache and painful buttocks. I've booked to see an Osteopath but I wondered if anybody had any self help ideas?

Hi,

I don't have any personal experience of this but my best friend suffered when she was pregnant and another friend also had it with both her pregnancies, it sounds like SPD- symphysis pubis disorder.

You've done the right thing booking in with the osteo, he may be able to help.

I think you're going to have to just be very gentle with yourself until you give birth. Talk with your midwife about the positions suitable for labour too and rest lots, no doing the splits!

Definitely sounds like SPD (known as PGP - pelvic girdle pain - now). Have a look here

I had it in first pg and again with current one - see if you can be referred to an obstetric physio asap.

Best self-help tip I have is to sleep on top of a folded duvet: cushions your pelvis and makes it a bit easier to roll over. Also a pillow between your knees.
