Previous labours started at 37 and 38 weeks. Likelihood of baby coming early again?

ds1 arrived at 38 weeks and ds2 arrived at 37 weeks. I am 33 weeks pg with no 3 and have to have a c-section which has been scheduled for almost 38 weeks. Am I likely to go into labour naturally, having had two arrive early already? If you have had two babies arrive early is it more likely that the third will too?

DS1 arrived at 37 weeks (breech and emergency section), DS2 arrived one day late (8 weeks ago), emergency section after trying VBAC.

Good luck whenever babe decides to put in an appearance!

Hi MommyD
I had both of mine at 38 weeks - the first one really shocked me because I expected to go at least another couple of weeks, if not four!
Second time, my midwife said that even though there is absolutely no hard proof of it happening again, if she were me she'd have her bags packed by 35 weeks. Freaked me out a bit actually, at the time, but at least I was really prepared. And even though this probably isn't based on science either, I wonder if when YOU were born has any relevance. Turns out I came early too - about 37 weeks.

DD1 was born at 35 weeks, DD2 was 9 days late, although mw expected her to be early too. I was 10 days late.

Asked my Mum - all her three came early from 37-39 weeks. I would actually like to go into labour naturally before the scheduled section - I then feel comforted by the fact that junior is ready to make an appearance, rather than be rudely yanked from him warm, snuggly home. That's the reason I am asking!!

I'm off to pack a bag!!!!!

dd arrived 31+6
ds1 36+3
ds2 39+6
ds3 39+6

Statistically it's more likely you will go into labour early if previous babies have been early, but not inevitable.
