Any ideas on treating bacterial vaginosis, I'm 6 weeks pregnant

Going to see Dr tomorrow but have been plagued with this before and just feel like it's coming back. I know it's very hard to treat in pregnancy this early so does anyone have any ideas or advice or just reassurance please?

You need antibiotics

Also don't wear thongs, have bubble baths, wear tight jeans

I actually try to go without underwear as much as possible, have showers, wear skirts or loose trousers. I have probiotic drinks and yoghurt daily. It's such a pain.

they'll do a swab and treat you after 16 weeks, i think.

Here's a useful link.

I would also recommend acidophilus capsules. It's a lactic acid which is found in the mucous membranes of the body.

BV is an imbalance of the bacteria of your vagina, acidoplilus can help to regain the balance, as can natural yoghurt.

However, because you are newly pregnant I would definitely consult your doctor before you go putting anything up there.

Good luck, hope it's sorted soon for you.

Thanks for your replies. I've had a look at the link and I have some tea tree oil in the house so will bathe with that as I've read that it's ok to use when you're pregnant. Hopefully Dr will give me something tomorrow or at least do a swab. I just don't want anything to put this pregnancy at risk, it's my second this year, the first ended far far too early and I had to have an erpc.

Sorry for your previous loss
I am also plagued with BV, but find wearing proper knickers instead of thongs helps. I also use FemFresh wash instead of soap etc.
FWIW, I had to take many courses of AB's all through my last pregnancy and ds2 is fine.

Body Shop do a tea tree and lemon oil body wash which I find is the only thing I can wash my parts with without getting thrush or worse. From its name it sounds like its going to sting like hell but its very mild, and lovely, actually.

Doc will def give you antibiotics. I suffered from it twice in the past so i know what your goin g through.

Dont wash with soap if you can avoid it, avoid douching as tempting as it may seem (nurse told me that was making it worse!)

Hope it clears up soon for you!

sorry, to be clear, if the doc gives you antibiotics don't take them. you should be getting a pessary at 16 weeks.
