You know how midwife feels tummy for baby position - have or would you do this yourself?

My baby has been in an oblique position so i've madly been doing exercises to try and move it down. I really want to have a feel to see if I think it's moved (I think it might have) but is that something I should leave to the experts?

tummy feeling is an art not a science, midwives get in wrong all the time if I were you and you are worried I would push for a scan.

I think they will scan me next friday if there's still cause for concern. I was really just wondering if I could do any harm by having a bit of a feel myself...

You wont do yourself any harm. if you know what your feeling is another matter...
I still got it wrong at the end of my first yr, more so in women that were very toned and had stong stomach muscles.
I would palpate myself in both pregnancies, sucessfully...but then my stomach muscles are shot!

thanks.

the midwife helped me feel the head on tuesday so i think at least i'll know if it's still there or not. where it is instead is another matter, tho i have no stomach muscles at all!

My baby turned from oblique to head down at 36 weeks following an intensive evening of hip tilts and ice lollies . I felt and saw her turn and afterwards could feel her head as a solid lump right at the bottom of my bump/top of my pelvis. Also got some impressive kicks in the diaphragm that made me suddenly vomit with no warning

hip tilts i.e cat stretch or what? I am 36 weeks yesterday and they're not worried but will be a bit if still oblique next Friday, so more tips on your techniques very welcome!

I think I mean the breech tilt here, although DD was oblique rather than breech.

The ice lollies probably didn't have much to do with it in reality, but she was very wriggly if I ate anything cold so I spent an evening lying on the sofa with my hips propped up on cushions and eating lollies, which woke her up and she wriggled herself into a head down position fairly quickly.

She didn't engage until I was in established labour though. I worried about it obsessively at the time, but when it came to it she just popped in
