I have a pain under my right hip that is taking the shit out of me. Saturday it was really bad and I barely could lie in bed on my left side, moving impossible, plus a low fever and bad diaerhea. Yesterday was better, walking around, no fever no pain. Today again, had to cry all morning with the pain and low fever is back. Should I go to the ER (not easy as have toddler)? I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning, should I wait until then? Please tell me what you would do.

I would ring my on-call midwife to get advice.

I'm in the us, no such wonderful thing as an on-call midwife. Plus, its a holiday today.

I think you need to be checked out as rib pain can be a sign of pre eclampsia. I don't want to panic you, but better to be safe. Is there any service you can call?

only a nurse line where they always say to go to the doctor, like for a nosebleed. Is fever a sign for preeclampsia? I have no weight gain, swelling, anything like that.

Well they always take my temperature when checking me out for it. Pre eclampsia is a funny one, you don't always present with all of the symptoms. You need to get someone medical to take your blood pressure. Hope you're ok

I have had severe pre-eclampsia with no symptoms except pain under my ribs - not even raised bp. Without wanting to panic you, as it could be nothing, pre-eclampsia can be very serious and it's really important you get checked straight away. I know it's really difficult with a toddler but please don't wait until tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the help! I did call my doctor's emergency number as I was literally screaming with pain and they send me to the hospital where they kept me for the night. They found my liver was a little large and there was a bit of fluid in the lungs (hu) but all the bloodwork was fine, Bp, everything else they could think of. The low fever they also didn't know where it came from. Today the pain is only very mild so I can handle it and they let me go, but I still wonder what is going on.
They thought maybe it was severe gas, but it sure as heck wasn't. The pain comes all from the liver/gall and goes up in the shoulder. My doctor wants to see me next week. I guess I'll wait and see if the pain returns after a day like last time.....
