Pregnancy

22 weeks and horrendous period pain/back pain/cramps - normal?

I'm 22 weeks pg and for a couple of hours so far this morning have literally been doubled up with period pain style cramps, lower back pain etc. Have been on all fours, rocking, had DD rubbing back - all the usual stuff. I had really painful braxtons with both previous pregnancies - but I can't remember them starting this early, more like 30 weeks which meant loads of false alarms . I'm on 3rd pg.

Anyone else had this type of thing? Tempted to take some paracetemol to see if it eases but don't particularly like taking tablets to disguise things that might need looking at...

Anyone?

Sorry hun not sure just hope you're okay. I've had loads of what MW describes as growing pains this week, doubled over for 40 mins in ikea with them but they go with rest. Worth checking out perhaps....

im sure its nothing, but call mw anyway. you always need to get these things checked out!

I second Lissie. Call the midwife now please! Better to have it checked and find out it's nothing than leave it and find out you should have gone in earlier.

The trouble is, I have no mw numbers for Sundays - the only option is to call delivery suite - and I really don't think I'm in labour. I just don't want to call them and feel a fraud. I can imagine them just telling me to take paracetemol - which I've just done anyway. Perhaps I'll wait a couple more hours to see if it eases off with drugs and hot water bottles

no, please call delivery suite. you will hate yourself if you dont and (god forbid) something was wrong. if this is premature labour then they can try to stop it, if not then you have done the right thing for your baby.

Might be a water infection, I would really get this checked out doesn't sound normal to me.

thanks all - just called them and they want me to go in. I do feel a little bit of a fraud as I'm certain its not labour and Im probably just a wuss that feels every type of BH! Thanks again and I'll post to let you know what happened.

Well that is a little embarrassing. Did all the checks and their diagnosis is Irritable Bowel Syndrome! Apparently can cause these types of pain/cramp in pg. So now have anti-spasm drugs and strong painkillers. Have come home and eaten loads of fruit, plus sachet of fibregel and hopefully pains will start to ease later. Odd though as not had any trouble going! thanks everyone for your support.

Looking forward to sleep already - several hours of constant stomach cramps is kind of wearing - oooooh, just like early labour - what joy ahead LOL!

Hi Lissie - soooo much better, thank you. TBH, still a few cramps/twinges, but nothing like it was yesterday. I guess its just something I'm going to have to watch. Saturday was a very very bad eating day (McD's for b/fast & lunch!!!) so it stands to reason doesn't it!!

Thanks for asking x
