I went out for a meal earlier and had goats cheese, completely forgetting im not supposed to eat soft cheese when Im pregnant. I didnt eat all of it (was a starter), but am now worried. I phoned the restaurant to check if it was pasturised and they said it wasnt! How risky is this really? am worried now

calm yourself

I ate brie every day for lunch when pregnant and DD turned out fine

Please try not to worry.

The chances are you and baby will be fine.

I wouldn't worry, easier said than done I'm sure.

I polished off DS's uneaten brie sandwich in a cafe the other day and only realised when I got to the last bite (which I spat out in a not very ladylike fashion)

It happens, but if you're generally avoiding what you're supposed to avoid, you're minimising the risk.

(Was it grilled? If cooked it's OK)

Really? You phoned the restaurant? Wow. You'll be fine. Your baby will be fine. But seriously, what would you do anyway? You can't turn back time, sorry to be harsh but pregnancy and parenthood is all about calculated risks. You were probably more at risk from the bacteria on the phone you used to ring the restaurant! I'm horrible I know but you have to put these things in perspective or you will go mad and not enjoy your pregnancy.

I think the advice in general is good but as a one off I'm sure it won't do any harm.
reikizen, I assume the OP has no idea what could happen which is why she's asking - we may have all said "phone your MW urgently!"
