Pregnancy

Is it the baby or my bladder?!

I'm 20 +3 days pregnant with my first. For the last few weeks everyone has been asking me if I have felt any movement but I had felt nothing. I saw my midwife last week who told me not worry. She listened to my tummy and everytime she heard a 'kick' she'd ask me if I felt anything and I had to say no. At that point she began to frown and looked surprised which made me anxious and have been since.

About two days ago I felt an unusual feeling quite low down which felt like something tapping or a 'bounce' against my bladder. I assumed I needed the toilet and this was a new bladder related sensation because I'm pregnant. After it happened three times I began to wonder if I am feeling movement. It's happening often now, it doesn't feel like 'flutters' 'kicks' or the usual descriptions. It's so low down, just above my bladder and feels like a combination of a bounce or a bubbly twinge and it's not something I have ever felt anymore. I have a tendancy to want the loo afterwards but nothing comes out.

Sorry it's so long! Can movement feel like this? Can anyone relate to this?

Yes that will be the baby! I've felt mine prod my bladder a lot, 20 week scan showed her punching it!

Sounds like the babdy to me. I have an anterior placenta and felt this kind of bladder prodding quite a long time before I felt anything like a swish, flutter or kick.

I actually find it quite stressful because I feel like I might wet myself and at very short notice (eg: all of a sudden and not after 'holding' it for ages).

I'm 27 weeks now and the baby movement is more consistent but baby still seems to hide behind the placenta for long periods.

Although the bladder prodding has eased up a little bit, I'm still stuffering and worry that it will cause incontenence!! I'm going to ask my midwife about it next week.

Thanks Lychee!

Piggybank - that's how I feel. I alternate between thinking 'oooh' to 'Oh no, has my bladder just relaxed?'

I suppose I sort of assumed it would be higher up.
