Pregnant and child has swine flu - what would you do?

My 9 yr old DD has come down with (probable) swine flu. I don't really want her to have tamiflu. It doesn't seem worth it if it reduces symptoms by only one day, but has unpleasant side effects. The GP agrees with this decision but says on the other hand I am more at risk and suggests it would give me more protection if DD takes tamiflu. She also said I could have Relenza as a preventative measure but she advised waiting to see if I get ill. I'm 8 weeks pregnant. Has this happened to anyone else? What were you advised and what did you do? Thanks.

I don't think that use of tamiflu to prevent spreading is backed up by evidence is it?

I took relenza when I had probable SF but a)I was in 3rd trimester and b) I had symptoms and am asthmatic. Worst time for complications is 2nd/3rd trimester so I certainly wouldn't take it prophylactically in first trimester, personally.

And I wouldn't give tamiflu to dd in your circs either.
