Losing excess weight when pregnant - can't find previous threads!

Can anyone direct me to previous threads about losing excess weight in pregnancy. I know there were a number a few weeks ago but I can't find them!

Obviously want to be healthy but this pregnancy is a little early as I am in the process of losing weight as I don't want to be the whale I was at the end of last time!

TIA

As far as I know weight loss isnt generally recommended during pregnancy, maintaining your weight or making sure your not eating excessively and putting on lots, yes, but am sure weight loss shouldnt be actively pursued. hth

This is what I thought - but there was a thread(s) a few weeks ago when people had and pregnancy wasn't compromised at all.

I intended to lose a couple of stone before getting pregnant but oops! I just want some good advice from mumsnetters experience. Don't worry I'm not thinking of losing 2 stone whilst pregnant - just don't want to put on loads but obviously the health of dd/ds is paramount.

I had gallstones with my 1st pregnancy. Had to go on strict diet for 7months. Was hard but I lost 2st and dropped 2-3 dress sizes. Feel much better about myself these days (although I am about to dropped 2nd child in 3wks!)
I had to cut out all fat from diet and lived on fruit and veg mainly. Still ate pasta and potatoes and all the good stuff, just without the high fat foods that went along with it.

As long as you stick to a varied healthy diet, it wont have any effect on your pregnancy and would recommend to anyone to cut back a little during pregnancy.
Afterall, eating for two is a big myth!!

Hey hotmama - I've every intention of carrying on doing slimming world whilst pregnant - it's entirely safe - they even produce a special booklet on following it during pregnancy.

Whilst I agree that weight loss shouldn't be persued if you're only a little overweight, I'm still very large (but have lost 2.5 stone this year already!), so it's more likely to benefit me and baby than do any harm.

Tabs - I have just rang the ww helpline and they have said that you can carry on doing ww until you are 12 weeks pregnant - what is the rule with slimming world as I have never done it. Obviously, pregnancy is more important but I do want to lose some excess lard if poss!

I'm about 90% certain that you can carry on throughout, but will mention it to my midwife tomorrow and see what she says too.

Will let you know.

After another search I have now found the thread I was looking for - obviously was just crap before.

Had to change my name from Hotmama as my bloody machine kept locking and I can't post to the October 04 and Jan 06 threads! grrr

Hey hotmama - should have changed your name to hotunderthecollarmama if computer was annoying you!!

Just thought I'd let you know that I'm back from seeing my midwife, and she was quite happy for me to carry on doing SW throughout. Just think, the week I give birth I should definitely make slimmer of the week .
