Hi guys,

Im all set to start doing up DC2's nursery but am wondering if its safe to paint it myself? Not talking about using gloss, DF will do that bit but im the "decorator" in our house and its driving me MAD waiting around for DF to get his ar*e into gear and get something done!

Im itching to get started, has anyone else painted while pregnant? Im 19 weeks and dont want to risk damaging my baby...thanks for reading!

I painted whilst pregnant with both my 2 DCs, and suffered no ill effects. Certainly used emulsion, and probably gloss, although I can;t remember specifically. I have to confess I didn't even consider it might be harmful! I do remember having to stand sideways towards the end as I couldn't get close enough to the wall to reach!!

we moved at 28 weeks last time so if I didn't paint it wouldn't get done in time. Opened all the windows and did it in hour blocks with a 10min walk and drink outside.

I painted DD's room and the conservatory when I was pregnant.

Just open the windows and use a low odour paint. Take it easy too, don't rush it and get someone to help because you shouldn't be standing on any ladders!

Oh fab thanks guys! Good idea to do it in hour blocks with fresh air and drink etc inbetween. I have been know pre-pregnancy to spend the whole day locked away in a room decorating without a single break... will definately be doing it in hour blocks thanks again for your replies!
