My af was due 27th july..i have done 5 [blush hpt..all positive, and called gp to make booking in appoint with the midwife. I was told i had to give a water sample which i did on 31st july..and have just called up for the results which have came back inconclusive.
I have to take another sample in tomorrow
the girl at the gp's said it normally means not enough hormone to give a result either way but i have had 5 +'s

Does anyone have any advice or experience of this please?

Did you take the sample from your wee first thing in the morning? If it was from later on in the day it might not have had such a high concentration of hormones. If you take the sample first thing in the morning tomorrow, it should have the highest hormone concentration and should give a positive.
Good luck.

I thought the urine test at booking in was for sugar and protein (to check for diabetes, preeclampsia and UTIs) not as a pg test

I have never been offered a pg test by the mw or gp at any stage of my pg, but to be fair I have never contacted them quite so early

we don't get a booking in appt till 10wks

Try not to worry!
I'm quite surprised your doctor wants a sample to test, TBH, I think most now just take your word for it. But I think if you've had 5 BFPs you should be fine. Maybe their tests aren't as sensitive as yours? Different brands can measure different amounts of hormone.

With my 2 ds's all i had to do after getting my positive's was contact the gp's and fill in notes with the mw who sent off for my scan date..then had the usual tests done with mw..this time they need a urine sample sent off before they can do any of that and it has came back inconclusive

I've always been told that the home pg tests are so accurate now that there is no point having it confirmed by the GP.

I don't know about the test done at your GP but I would have thought that 5 positives plus a missed period is pretty conclusive.

Maybe you could ask to speak to your GP and check what they were actually testing. In the meantime I would try not to worry - sounds like you are pg to me .

If they do do a test a the GP don't they do it on a HPT type test anyway these days!

I found out I was pg with dd2 on one - was about to go out of date so DH brought it home!
