This used to be the case in Bristol. When I had DS (nearly 3) I had no 12 wk scan, just the 20 week one, but when I had DD last year they had introduced the 12 week one. Think it is NICE guidelines, but don't think this means they have to give you one.

Nicky im in Bath to! well just outside in Midsomer Norton!

They dont do a scan till 20 weeks but there is always the epu for early scans. They are very good and generally best time is tues-thursday for less waiting time!

How far along are you and how nice to see someone else from my local area on here

You can go to Spire Hospital (used to be BUPA) in Clifton in Bristol, scan is 99 pounds.

Hi

Nope, no 12 weeker unless you don't know your dates. I paid for a private on at the RUH with Nuchal.

If you mainly want the scan for reassurance you can book a dating scan for 50 instead of the nuchal scan for 200.

That's what we did. I think it's really unfair that it's not offered for free, especially given the NICE guidelines, but Bath seems to apply their own rules.

Nope im feeling fine no real symtpoms other than having thought i had sore boobs till the last couple of days and now i know what sore feels!

Have heard babies heartbeat last week which was amazing! Your morning sickness will pass well i hope it does its not pleasant!

Are you planning on having your baby at Bath? I've heard so much negative feedback from people who have had their babies there.

If you choose to have the nuchal fold scan you can have it at the RUH where you'll get to see the baby and have photos etc but won't find out the results for another 24 hrs. If you have it with BUPA in Bristol they'll give you all the results straight away. It costs about the same for both.

Iateallthecreameggs - I had my DD there almost a year ago and had a fantastic birth. The only thing was that post birth the ward was very busy and so was noisy resulting in me only spending 1 night in and begging to go home early 24hours after DD was born. The only bit of advice I had that I would gladly pass on is - when you arrive ask if the community delivery room is free it is the nicest room and very un-hospital like. If you would like to know anything else just let me know.

oops do you mean Bath? thats why id love to have bubba in Paulton as its so quiet and you get 1-1 care, there is hardly ever more than 2/3 other woman on the ward and its so local, 5 min drive for me, also good birthing pool facilities. Will see but as for now i have opted for Paulton. told them on my booking in appointment!

Paulton is great but you need to go prepared to be moved it anything does not go to plan. I had planned for the local MW led unit but ended up in for monitoring for a week prior to DD arriving. A friend was moved and delivered at RUH but went back to the amazing peace and quiet of Paulton. Good luck.
