Does it work?

I'm 6 weeks and the joy is starting again - last time I was house bound for about 10 weeks - I'm a mild emetophobe which doesn't really help.

We're very tight budgetwise but if it were to work I'd be more than happy to find the money somehow - DD can do without food for a few weeks. Actually if it gets as bad as last time she may well have to as I won't be able to even open the fridge..

Anyway - I digress. Does it work - if so how often, how many sessions? ANd those damned wristbands don't work on me as my wrist bones are too close together so that's not a cheap alternative.

It didnt work for me, but i know friends for whom it helped. my doctor actually did it so it was free, dont know if that had anyhting to do with it not working for me tho.

I can't decide if it works or not. Have been having accu for 6th months now initially to help me concieve and I do love it but sometimes I am sceptical.

Had one session at 7weeks where they did points on my back and it totally took away my nausea and vomiting for over a week but I had asked them specifically not to treat the nausea then as I had an MMC at 10 weeks where emby stopped at 7 weeks so it was imp for me to still feel sick but somehow that treatment did it (unless it was something else that took it away). At 9weeks I asked them to start treating the nausea and I have felt a little better and was still sick a few times but I didnt feel quite so horrendous. I had accu on Thursday (10weeks) and have felt a little better since then (and started back to work this week too which a few weeks ago would have been impossible) but then I did throw up my dinner last night- but then again pizza was a mistake!

I say give it a go- you could always go to a college and get reduced price accu (I go to mine in North Finchley and its about £15 a session)

It really worked for me, I had one session and I felt better straight away, I must say the sickness did not go completely, but it became manageable enough to allow me to continue with my daily life without feeling I was going to die. I went back again after 2 weeks as soon as I felt it was getting bad again and that was it. I paid £90 for 2 sessions, if you live in North London I could give you the name of the doctor I went to, he was highly recommended by a senior consultant at the Royal Free I used to see for my reflux problems.

I had acupuncture during my 2nd pregnancy as with my 1st I had been sick anything upto 6 times daily for the 1st 6 months and then at least twice weekly until I delivered.

I found it definately helped although I still felt quite nauseous I was sick about 12 times throughout the whole pregnancy. It was bliss when the needles were in as the sickness completely disappeared. I think it is definately worth a go.

Ive been housebound recently with 'morning' sickness - but i went to the docs expecting to have to argue with him, but he immediately prescribed prochlorperazine, which has helped the nausea/sickness immensely.

I know - you probably want to steer clear of medication, but just thought id add my experience into the mix - not sure how i would have fed my DS had i not been prescribed this.

Pooter - i'm more than happy to take meds - I took buccastem last time, think tis the same drug, but didn't do that much for me.

And of course - I can go to students! Never thought of that. Only problem is I'd have to cart DD along as don't know anyone in N London who could look after her and no training in S London. But will look into it as def worth £15 a session just to see if it works. £45 is more of a problem....

Will let you know how I get on....

I tried it with my 3rd and 4th pregnancy after having terrible terrible debilitating nausea in my 1st and 2nd ones. I was nowhere near as bad, but have no way of knowing if the acupuncture was definitley the reason. also babies 1 and 2 were girls and 3 and 4 were boys so maybe that made a difference. Am about to have my 5th and didn't use it this time and nausea was quite bad. sleeping as much as possible is a help i find, not always easy to achive though! tonic water also seems to help a bit.
