can't walk for more than 10 minutes without getting pain in my bump

spent half an hour in the supermarket on sat and got really bad pain in the bottom of my bump, same thing happened when i went shopping on Sunday. i put it down to over exerting myself so yesterday i decided to take a leisurely stroll to my local shop. what should have been 10 minutes there and back took me 20 mins and when i got home my bump really hurt.

if i potter about the house i'm fine but obviously i can't spend the next three months never going more than five minutes walk from a chair!!

has anyone else suffered this? should i be worried?
have tried phoning midwife but have been told to phone back later as they are very busy.

I got absolutely horrible pains in my bump yesterday, I get them when I over-exert myself too - I'd been carrying big mounds of washing all over. I get them if I walk around for too long or stay standing for more than about 10 minutes... They're nasty! I also get horrible clunky pelvic pains and the bottom of my back's knackered...joy!

That sounds really uncomfortable Have you tried one of those belly belt things - might help to have something supporting your bump? Blooming Marvellous sells them on their website, so do a few other sites I think. Would also check with the midwife, just in case...

Is it a stitch? I used to get them when pg and walking...hurt like hell but went away after a bit. MW said it was fine.

was thinking of getting a belly belt as i am carrying very low down and wondered whether this could be contributing to the problem. also i am a rather small frame and my bump is quite big and all out the front.....i look like i've swallowed a beach ball..

It sounds like you have what I have, which is problems with your sacro-ileac joint. If you're in the last trimester the levels of relaxin build up and everything loosens up which means your ligaments are more stretchy. That means your joints can move around a little too much at times and may get misaligned (had this in pregnancy one, and I now have it again which is why I know so much about it!) Try and get an appointment with the women's physio at your hospital, they'll give you a belly belt for free, or should do, if that is what it is. Also you should avoid walking much at a time, avoid sitting cross legged, and from my information sheet squeeze your gluts a lot especially when you go from sitting to standing. HTH Emily

if it is a stitch - I got those with both my pregnancies - usually they would wear off after about 10 miutes if I carried on walking, albeit slowly.

I had some really foul lower bump pain with DS2. I think we decided it was round ligament pain. Walking hurt lots.

I'm afraid we didn't come up with any solution. I would talk to your midwives, though, just to be safe.

took a trip to A+E on weds night because after work i got really bad pains in my bump.

midwife seems to think i've been overdoing things and i'm under instructions to have complete rest. she said it was probably muscular and over the last two days dp and i have noticed my bump has spread outwards, so i'm not carrying all to the front anymore. the sides of my belly have been very tender (like doing too many sit ups)and so it was probably mybody straining after a growth spurt.

midwife says to keep an eye on it and if it recurs to get in touch.

spent all day yesterday confined to the sofa.............
