Air Freshners for Preggos?

At a little over 9 weeks along, certain smells have become unbearable to me.

I love a fresh-smelling home, but I've had to ditch the Glade CirculAirs, and most of those fragranced room oils and incense make me want to lose my lunch.

Any idea on how to alternatively get rid of cooking smells??

Lavender oil in particular makes me very nauseous.

There is a thing called a Zilo which gets rid of odours.

It's just a metal (don't know what sort) disc that sits in a small rubber bowl with water. I know QVC sell them for £20.

The onion one doesn't work, I know that.

Try slices of lemon in a saucer of water and zap for a minute or so in the microwave. Helps freshen the micro and the kitchen at the same time.

Found one! Thanks, Sarah Beeny! Slice a vanilla pod. Put into a shallow pan of water on low heat in the oven. Gorgeous!

Opening the windows doesn't cut it, and as it's a bit colder in Scotland that's not always feasible.

expat do you really think that glade thingys smell nice normally? They make me barf at the best of times - makes your whole house smell like someone has just had a dump and tried to cover it up IMO

agree with cd. when our microwave is looking a bit grotty i put a lemon cut in half into a bowl of water and put it on high for 5 mins, it helps with fishy pongs in the kitchen

CD
Thanks for making me laugh! I had one in the hall, near the coat rack. Don't think I'll be able to have one again. They've gone the way Ristorante pizzas have after being pregnant w/DD - blech.

Besides, I've found the vanilla pods!

Of course, I'd love to have Dipthyque candles, but that's another of my Lotto fantasies.
