been for a scan today as im having a big baby, its 7lb according to the experts and im 37 weeks on thursday, baby is head down but face up. is there anything i can do to encourage it to move face down or does it really matter.im only worried as i dont want a c section if possible, im scared stiff of being cut open (im a coward i know) i dont care how sore it is im prepared to push for england to get the baby out by myslef. has anyone any advice on how to turn baby. ps my placenta is front facing too dont know if this matter but someone said the baby tends to face the placenta, dont know if thats true.

My DD was back to back at birth (we didn't know until she popped out smiling up at us)! All my labour pains were in my back which wasn't what I expected, but I had a mobile epidural which was sanity saving. My labour was apparently longer than it would have been had she been face down, but she was still out in 7 hours (pushing was 25mins). I did however tear very badly so start on the perennial massage and pelvic floor muscles ASAP.

bumpsoon, my midwife doesnt know yet as i wont see her for another two weeks. i only found out yesterday when they scanned me and i then saw a consultant, she didnt seem that worried she just told me the labour might be more difficult and a C section may be needed. to be honest i wish i didnt know all of this!!!!

dd was back to back despite my best efforts. i was in hospital and had asection.

my sisters baby was similar but her dd was born at home and twisted round at the last minute and plopped out.

i think it perfectly possible to have a natural birth but please don't work yourself up into a lather about a section.
