Hi everyone. Has anyone else experienced this? I know that pregnancy hormones can cause this but i am worried about a small mark on my face. It has got darker and has developed a black spot in the centre. I am at GP's next week so gonna ask for a referal to dermatology for removal. Just wondering if anyone can reassure me! x

I have 'the mask of pregnancy'it's like dark blotchy freckles over my cheeks nose and forehead. If it suddenly appeared when pregnant it could be this, but think you are right to get it it looked at though as its got a spot in centre.Just in case.

Hiya, my hyperpigmentation appeared after I briefly went on the pill. It always reappears when I'm pg now, and it only fades during the winter when I'm not in the sun so much (or I wear total sunblock). Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear, I've tried all sorts to get rid of it, and the only thing I can do is stay out of the sun.

I have had this since being pregnant with my first 2 years ago. I was told that it would fade and dissappear after birth but it didn't. I also have friends that still have it after about 3 years so I think using make up is the only answer

I have dark pigmentation on my forehead too. It looks like I missed a patch when putting sunscreen on. It is disappointing to learn that it doesn't disappear once pregnancy is over...

I had it around one eye with DS2, it was very noticable, It DID fade after I had him, It reappeared when I was pg with DD, but not nearly so bad and has faded again. It is still there, but not really obvious, but I have freckles, so I guess that helps disguise it, but I wanted to reassure you that it may not be permanent

I've got it on upper lip, making me look like I've got a moustache! Horrified to read here that it doesn't disappear after birth. What? A moustache forever? No!(sad)

Hi

I am olive skinned and have developed freckles on my cheekbones, so strange as I have never had skin problems. Still they look OK so am not too worried.
