Pregnancy

Does your bump get smaller/flatter sometimes?

Me again...

I have spent quite a lot of today in bed due to feeling particularly shite. I've noticed that my bump is a little bit flatter; my non-pregnant tummy did the same if I ever managed to grab more than 8 hours in bed.

I suppose it's just fluid & baby settling back & spreading out, but could do with some reassurance. It's happened a few times this pregnancy and always after I've been horizontal for a long time. I'm nearly 30 weeks.

Thanks...

I'm not as far on as you are (25 weeks tomorrow), and a first timer, but my belly size is not constant. As well as fluid and baby position, I think my variance is related to, ahem, trapped wind...

Sorry if tmi.

Easier said than done, but try not to worry and hope you feel better soon.

Right, well...bearing in mind this is the 4th baby my tummy has had to deal with beyond 16 weeks, mine did as yours does overnight right up until this last fortnight.

I am 36 weeks now and am now both huge and uncomfortable. However, before that my tummy could be really floppy when I woke in the morning because the baby had moved back and to the sides.

Now, doesn't matter which way I look or lie, I look like a walking 5 berth tent overstuffed with camping gear.

My DD's were fidgets. If I lay down they would move back to back so my bump would go concave and almost disappear.
DD2 was particularly irritatin at this, she would regularly disappear into my rolls stomach so I cold go from looking 8 months pregnant to just looking fat as she went sideways...

Thanks everyone. So pleased it's not just me.

My bump alternates between either standing proud and firm, or sagging flabbily over my knicker line.

Mine also varies. Like minshu I think wind may play a part and position of the baby and it looks bigger when I've just eaten.

I'm really glad to see this thread as I am 26 weeks and last night woke in the middle of the night to find myself sleeping on my bump which is normally impossible. This morning bump had all but disappeared - and baby not moving quite as much either. I got the doppler out and could hear her but she was obviously really far back so I think she must still have the room to scoot away from the front iyswim . Crazy baby.
