Trace of protein and blood++ in urine - needing some reassurance

Had a midwife appt fri where trace of protein and blood++ was found in urine sample. Phone call this morning to say no sign of infection (suprised as midwife seemed reasonably sure that it was) but need to see GP with another sample, receptionist didn't indicate urgent so am waiting until thurs as have an appt then anyway. Currently 22+6 weeks pg, first pg apart from early mc last year at around 7 weeks, so probably a first timer worrying about nothing but am worrying nontheless and wondered if anyone could tell me what, if anything this could indicate.

Twiga - I had that 4 times in my 1st pregnancy and 8 times in my 2nd!

Blood and Protein can be traced if there is any contamination within your sample.... such as discharge (TMI I Know!).
It is an indication of a Urinary Tract Infection (usually Cystitis).... which may need antibiotics. Its fairly common in pregnancy. I had 6 course of antibiotics for those 'suspected' UTIs. In reality I think only 2 of those times there was acutally an infection present as I had pains on going to the loo.

Drink LOADS of water.... that usually clears up an infection. If you start to get a really sore tummy then phone your midwife and they can arrange Antibiotics for you.

Don't worry about it. I

Thanks Toothache - just having a bit of a panic as was reassured by the idea of it just being a UTI and then when they phoned this morning to say no sign of infection, mind working overtime on what ifs! Had a bit of a rotten time at the appt as blood preasure was also slightly up and midwife took a while to find baby's heartbeat - like I say mind working overtime as a result. Thanks for your reply !

Twiga - That happened to me so many times I just stopped worrying in the end. Every Antenatal apointment they would say "Oh there's trace blood/protein, best sned the sample off". I'd just think Oh here we go again!! I could've told them I didn't have a UTI.

it happens to my friend too, as before she got pg she had a water infection but it obviously didnt clear up properly and then she got pg soon after, she had blood in her urine and turned out its her water infection again, she had antibiotics. Now she is fine.

Just a quick up-date, had to take another sample to GP today and it was completely clear, so just one of those random results things by the look of it. Thanks again for your replies.
