Low lying placenta at 20 weeks

Has anyone been told they have a low lying placenta at 20 weeks - what does it all mean? I have been told i will be scanned again at 32 weeks and if I bleed to go to hospital straight away .. should i take it easy? i am still doing excercise classes and some gentle yoga - am i overdoing it? Any advice or info is welcome...

It's quite common I think. I had low lying in this preg; re-scanned at 34 ish weeks & all ok. Apparently often moves with the growing baby. Wouldn't imagine you need to worry about doing yoga or the like.

Hi, I had this with my DS. Have they told you to avoid intercourse? In my case it was important that I avoided it. Placentas do move so there is a likelihood yours could move up too. Mine did but then my DS was breech so I had a CS. If my placenta hadn't moved up though I would have had to have a CS. Which IMVHO was a cinch compared to the "natural" birth I had with DD.
I think the most important thing to do is to not worry. I'm sure it will all turn out ok.

Hi I was told I had LLP at 20 weeks (I am 28 now) the consultant did say it was impossible to tell if it would move or not at this stage although most do.
I am getting rescanned at 34 weeks .
He said to carry on as normal until then but to go straight in if I had any bleeding .
He did also say that lots of dr's differ in their opinions on treating women with llp .

It is amazing how inventive you can become . Not saying it was easy though. Just knowing you can't do something makes you want to do it more. If they haven't told you to avoid penetration, don't worry about it. As CWWM said, doctors do differ in their treatment and each case is unique.
