Retroverted Uterus and pregnancy.

Having had half a dozen scans to confirm that I wasn't having an ectopic pregnancy I found out that I have a retroverted uterus.

What I was wondering was whether the general discomfort, sort of a dull ache, was because it was being to rise out of my pelvis. I am 11 weeks pregnant.

I have been told that my retrovertedness (is that a word) is more that likely to be the cause of my years and bad painful periods, but no one has mentioned how it can feel in the early weeks of pregnancy. I know that as the baby gets bigger it makes no difference as it heads straight up.

Hi Pie, I caught site of this thread and had to laugh - I have been telling everyone I have an introverted uterus! I was told years ago that it could casue problems in pregnancy but I am not sure what problems. Let me know if you find out anything and good luck with your pregnancy.

I had a scan following a miscarriage and was told my uterus tipped backwards - is that the same as retroverted? I was told it was just a variation of the normal uterus and was nothing to worry about but I don't know if that means it doesn't cause problems

I have a retroverted uterus, and have been told that it is a normal 'variation'. I did have one m/c, but after that went on to have two full term pregnancies.
