Hi all. Yes another Dumb question from me sorry guys!

I have pulled something in my upper back. Not baby related so not a major issue am sure I will get over it. My problem is that at 20 weeks I know I am not supposed to sleep on my back but it is the only way I can get comfortable witht he back pain. So my question is:

Is it better to sleep on my back and hopefully nick a few hours sleep or shall I persist at trying to sleep on my side, make my back worse and prob not sleep a wink? Dilemmas dilemmas

hia

I would say sleep on your back! I was still sleeping on my back until about 24/ 25 weeks as it is my most comfortable position. I only stopped when I noticed a bit of lower back pain and my bumpjust didn't work with it...
Sleeping on my side now causes hip and joint pain and I wish I could go back to my back. 13 weeks to go until I can get a comfortably night of sleep again.

Hope you get better soon

Sleep on your back. It soon becomes too uncomfortable to sleep on your back, which is your body's way of telling you not to - but there is no need to worry until then

My midwife said it's fine to sleep on your back if you use 2 pillows. Hope your back is better soon. xx

Dumb question from me..... Why are you not supposed to sleep on your back? 28 weeks and not finding it a problem but am I causing one??

when should you stop sleeping on your back? i know vaguely that its to do with the baby pressing on veins etc (is it?) but is that more relevant when the baby is bigger/heavier at the end of pregnancy?

No it is not causing a problem to sleep on your back. You will find that it becomes really uncomfortable later on and you can become breathless...which as I said, is surely nature's way of telling you not to do something!
