Really worried that baby is not growing

Hi
Any advice please. I am 16 weeks and keep being told that I am small, when I measure my fundal height it is coming in at 14 weeks. I am worried sick! Who can I get reassurance from ie a scan? I am in Edinburgh where the nhs care is minimal, the next time I see the midwife is at 22 weeks. I have a home Doppler and can hear the heartbeat but I know that is not the full story. I mentioned my concerns to the midwife who says that I am just freaking out but I feel that I will only reassured if I got a scan.

2cm eitehr side of fundal height is normal, and it think at this stage, you don;t need to worry too much. some women measure smaller than others, unless growth is static or suddenly slows i think you are ok.. one scan will not show how your baby is growing.. just whether it is small or large or average.. serial scans better for plotting growth, but i would really not be done at this stage i don;t think

you can call your MW for reassurance.

who keeps telling you you are small?

some women with good abs don;t show as much or as quickly

thanks lulumama. I was at a family Birthday and I hadn't seen lots of nieces, sisters in law since I became pregnant, they have all had babies and were all showing at my stage compared to my being 'neat'. Lots of ' in well soon enough you will be showing and then you will be complaining' comments. My anxiety arises from the fact that I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks earlier in the year and thus are super vigilant re this one.

Hello,
just wanted to reply as I think I had something similar. I was really worried at about the same time as you about the fundal height. I think if you are taller the fundus has further to travel over the pelvis - could this be a reason? My mw wasn't worried but I was!! My last pregnancy ended in miscarriage so I understand that you will be even more on guard.
Also don't worry about not showing (although I did!! ) I wasn't showing until about 20 weeks - before that I only 'showed' after tea!! There was definitely nothing to see at 16 weeks. People made the same comments to me and it does make you feel anxious. Try not to worry too much - talk to your mw again. That's what she's there for (as my dh keeps telling me...)
All the best

I'm not an expert but try not to worry too much, I was told this all the way through my first pregnancy and ds was born perfectly healthy 7lbs 7 oz. My mum was told exactly the same through two pregnancies, it's obviously just the way our bodies are made that we don't show it much! this time round I'm not listening to anyone about the size of my bump!
