Pregnancy

The. Nausea. Has. Returned. HEELLLP!!!

I am newly pg with #2 (6 weeks) and I am having continual waves of morning all-day sickness. If this pregnancy is anything like the last, these feelings will continue for at least another 8 weeks, a thought which makes me want to cry, despite the fact that I am delighted about this longed-for pregnancy!

I have to get up at 6.30 to get ds to nursery on time (he starts at 8am)and the mornings are my worst time although the nausea comes back at various point throughout the day.

Any tips for getting through these coming weeks would be greatly appreciated! I know that to a certain extent I need to just wait it out, but if anyone has any ideas how to alleviate some of the discomfort please let me know!

Butterfly i suffer the same (11+4 weeks) but if i constantly graze on food it really does help. I find that if i have not ate anything for a while the nausea comes back and i start retching. This really does help me. x

You have my deepest sympathy. I am 10+4 and retch throughout the day with bouts of nausea from the second I step out of bed until I return at night.

I am off food (unusual for me) and everything tastes funny. Curious things that I seem to enjoy though:

  • salt and vinegar crisps
  • McDonalds cheeseburger ( I cannot believe I write that!!)
  • vanilla ice cream
  • hot chocolate

Fortunately I am not yet at the stage of wanting these all at the same time...

Eat every 2 hrs and during night if you wake up to pee (a piece of banana is good I find, or some carbs) .
Dont' eat and drink at the same time (leaving 1/2 hour after eating before drinking something also helps)
I've been taking Vit B6 for the nausea and really think it's helped too - has made it lessen but not disappear but that's fine by me! Also ginger capsules are supposed to help (am taking those too).
Best of luck and hope you feel better soon.

I really feel for you, I was in the same boat six weeks ago. I found the best cure was not going to work..I assume you're working? It was incredibly dull and depressing but I took two weeks off and just watched daytime TV, tried to eat little and often (crumpets, bagels, toast) and slept as much as I could. DS was at nursery for three days a week and the other two were hard work but bearable as I'd had three days of doing nothing.

I actually called in sick for one week and then took a weeks holiday for the other one. I don't know how practical that would be for you? Can DP/DH drop DS at nursery so you can get a few more hours sleep?

When I was pregnant with DS I just worked the whole way through and it was loads worse. Rest, rest and more rest seemed to keep it vaguely under control this time round.
