Hi, I have been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel today at only 9 weeks pregnant!
It is already quite bad in my right hand and my left constantly tingles, gp sent me straight to the physio who have given me wrist splints for use during the night & when ever else it feels bad, but I wasn't really given any other advice..
I didn't want to google as it can get addictive and conflicting articles.. So I hoped that some of you lovely mums & mums to be could give me any advice on things that possibly helped you or a friend?!

Just feeling a bit down about it really, the 1st of May is still what feels like a lifetime away!!

TIA

At 9 weeks? Blimey, I didnt know you could get it that early.

I had it from about 35 weeks. I didnt get any wrist supports as I was told it was too late! I used to sleep with my hands on a pillow if it got too bad at night or would raise my arms in the air for a while to stop the tingling. I also found that holding my hands under cold water helped.

Hopefully as you have been diagnosed with it early you will get a lot of help if it does get bad.

Hi Lauraloola!
My GP was quite surprised but has no doubt that it is carpal tunnel, he says sometimes 'heavier women' get it earlier on but I am only a size 8!! So he said it's just unlucky, great lot of help that was, lol! He did mention a few things that could be done later on if required but I am hoping that it won't come to that.. My only concern is if I already have it now is it going to get a lot worse as the pregnancy progresses.. Guess it's time for me to play the waiting game!!
Thanks for the tip about the cold water

I have had it for all three pg's, sorry to say can't give advice as to how to make it better. What I would say is to think carefully about the sort of pram that you buy, because my CT carries on after I have the baby and gets worse from pushing the pram. I have found some prams have much better handles than others in this respect - the angle of my wrists makes quite a difference, not completely better, but not so bad.
Having said that, I think for most women their CT goes after they have the baby, so maybe it will be like that for you.

I have CPT and i also have a fab Physiotherapist, She gave me a wrist support which really helped and also if you run your wrist under a cold tap then strieght under a warm/hot tap it helps.

Also i wear a copper bracelet which i thought was a load of crap but it wactually does work and if i take it off for more than a few day the pain comes back with a vengence.
