I am really worried and waiting for the blood tests results which will come back tomorrow. The measurement has given us a 1:66 result. I wondered if anyone had experienced this?

Try not to worry too much (easy for me to say I know...) - my consultant said that 6mm is an indication that something very serious is wrong and you are nowhere near that.

I dont know where you got the 1:66 info from but actually 2.8 is quite normal for a 13wk 6 day baby which is the top end of the scan limit for nuchal fold testing.

Nine out of 10 babies with a measurement between 2.5mm and 3.5mm will be completely normal.

How many days are you exactly?

Even is 1:66 is right, that is still a very samll chance of something being wrong - I wouldn't bet on something with those odds.

Please let us know the result - i have my fingers cross for you!

Thanks very much for replying. I am 11 weeks + 1. Thanks for your positive message. I am trying hard to stay positive. The 1:66 is the result we were given at the clinic this morning. It is my first pregnancy after a stillbirth in May so I am very nervous.

It is really early to test, i think most trusts wait until 12+ weeks as the results seem more accurate this way. I would really wait for your blood test results.

I'm so sorry, I know how awful waiting for results can be, really I do.

There are definitely people on here who have gone through the same thing and will have encouraging stories for you.

Remember that the blood test will increase the accuracy lots, from about 75% to 95% or similar so you really do only have half the jigsaw at the moment.

Good luck! Mine was 2.7mm and gave me a 1:63 risk. But DS is absolutely gorgeous, very healthy and cheeky as hell so fingers crossed for you...

My sonographer wouldn't even tell us nuchal fold measurement in isolation, as she felt I should wait for full result, though I did find it on printout later anyway - in my case my age was high risk on its own and it was bloods that bumped it up. I had CVS - if you find with the full result that there's cause for concern and you need advice on whether to go ahead with further testing, do ask...

Hi everyone
I wanted to let you know what transpired and say thanks for responding to me in my hour of need.

Our consultant was unhappy with the fact we had only been given the measurement, as Elkie said (it was a private scan). She said it was only half the story (echo Millie), and she was right. The bloods came back and have given us a much, much improved result; 1:3900. We feel like we have been given a much needed break. The measurement is still a bit of a concern and will be monitored, but for now I can start believing again that we might have a successful pregnancy.

Thanks again for listening to me.

Hi Juliette, so glad you seem to be a bit more reassured. Its a really scary time isn't it? I'm 18 weeks with my 4th DC (others are 15, 12 and nearly 2) and because of my age (nearly 41) I've had all sorts of tests offered which I didn't have before. Decided to only have the Nuchal scan (my hospital don't do the blood test as well) and I started off with 1:67 risk which was quite scary (based on me being an old hag!)NT was 1.70mm (whatever that means) and afterwards my risk went down to 1:1107.
Your results are so much better so hopefully you will start to relax a bit and enjoy your pregnancy Good luck
