Pregnancy

10 weeks pregnant and worried about everything - am I normal or pathetic?

I am 10 weeks pregnant with IVF triplets. I am delighted but worry that things will go wrong as I miscarried my first IVF pregnancy.
I have had very bad nausea from the outset but it has got worse as time has gone on and now I'm pretty much sick all day every day. I have also been vomiting 2-3 times a day for the past week or so and am finding it hard to eat anything. I'm worried that this will affect the babies.
Also, my boobs got bigger in the first eight weeks and were very tender but they haven't got any bigger in the past couple of weeks and aren't as sore. Is this normal?
I just need some reassurance that it is usual to worry so much!!
Any advice appreciated.

Hi Barbarella - I'm 9+5 and am also constantly worrying about EVERYTHING. I was really sick for a few weeks and now the nausea has faded over the past couple of days so I'm panicking about that. No sign that there is actually anything wrong but worry worry worry.

This is my first pg and wasn't prepared for quite how hard I'd find it just not knowing for sure that the baby is ok. I'm just absolutely desperate for the scan (which isn't until 14 October - argh!) when I can (hopefully) relax a bit.

Thanks Bicnod. I have my scan on the 1st of October and can't wait!! I keep looking at my stomach to see if it looks bigger and have been waking up in the middle of the night thinking something's wrong. It's such a weird stage! I'm glad it's not just me that feels this way!! If it's any help I had a few days when my nausea wasn't as bad but it came back full force!

Barbarella I dont know if IVF adds another dimension of worry...but I worry NON-STOP!!! I am 16 weeks tomorrow and even though I have seen my little bambino at 12 week scan I am still completely neurotic!

Morning sickness is a normalpregnancy symmptom and as such, so long as it doesn't become hyperemisis, will not affect babies! Just try to keep down a supplement like pregnacare and as much food as you can stomach...this will tide babies over until you feel a bit better!

My nipples are pretty tender and even itchy, but I have had no growth what-so-ever. You cant really normalise anything, what is normal for one person could be completely abnormal for someone else!!!

Like everyone says...just try not to worry! I know you will pay no attention to this as I never did...but there really is very little you can do to help right now, what will be will be!

Thanks Emma2617. That makes me feel a bit better about the boobs thing - I should stop comparing myself to friends/relatives who seem to go up a cup size a week! It is comforting that others worry this much also.

Barbarella I was terrible - I must have driven DP mad with my worrying - and with IVF and a previous m/c it must be 100x harder. But all the details you've posted sound normal - my boobs stopped being sore - all was well.

I think 9/10 weeks was the peak of my worrying though - I did calm down a bit after the first trimester and especially when I could feel kicking. At 9 weeks I ate some rare meat then realised I shouldn't have and I was a TOTAL wreck for days. After that I think I realised I couldn't sustain such intense worrying for 9 whole months!

Wishing you loads of good luck.

Barebarella thats awfull that you are being so sick, but is so good also as sickness means your hormone levels are high and with triplets i imagine they are three times worse!!

I'm 9+6 and my sore boobs have got better the last few days but i'm still sick everyday (i am always sick though my whole pg expecting #3) But if i remember right sore boobs came and went throughout my last 2 pregnancys and my boobs never really grew at all only when baby was born and my milk came in then they where like 2 hot melons strapped to me!! lol

Try not to worry and make sure you are able to keep enough fluids down if you cant speak to your mw i know they can give you medicine to help severe sickness.

Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS X 3

Thanks so much snowleopard and broodymom. I really appreciate the reassurance - we haven't told many people that I'm pregnant as don't want to 'jinx' it so it is nice to get some feedback from others. broodymom - I loved the 'hot melons' image!! lol
