Episiotomy scar throbbing- two years later!

I had an episiotomy when I had DS 2 years ago and it healed well at the time. I'm 20 weeks pg with number 2 now and at times I can feel what I'm assuming to be my episiotomy scar throbbing. Is this normal?! Would it actually be hurting, or is it psychological?

Sorry to hear you're in pain.

I find that scar tissue can sometimes have phantom pain. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Also, pregnancy hormones may heighten skin sensitivity. So yes, I think your scar may well be hurting. 2 years is a short time when it comes to scar age.

I had episiotomy 2 half years ago and it still aches sometimes esp when I have had an orgasm blush
I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and expect once baby gets larger and presses down on pelvis it will get sore- I also think its just the scar tissue

I've had this too - I think it's due to the increased blood flow in the area. Throbbing would fit in with that theory in your case.

I had a c section last time. just over 2 years ago. I am now 16w pg and scar is really sensitive and itchy with my growing belly after having been fine for about a year. I think this is perfectly normal although obviously with scar being in a different place I cant say for sure.

It could be the pg hormones. My mum told me that when she had the menopause her epi scar started hurting for the 1st time in years (something else to look forward to, ladies!) - so def affected by changing hormone levels.
