Worried about baby not moving

Hi, don't know if anyone can help. I am 18 weeks today and getting increasingly worried because I haven't felt the baby move. This is my second baby, and with the first I think it was about 20 weeks that I first felt it, but I thought with the second you are supposed to feel it earlier? I may be worrying about nothing, but can't help fearing something is wrong. Any advice gratefully received

I don't think you need to worry at 18 weeks. IIRC I didn't feel my second move until about 20 weeks

I hardly felt anything until 20 weeks with this (my second) pregnancy. Could you ask for an appointment with your doctor and for them to get the doppler out to put your mind at rest?

I am only now (19 weeks and third pregnancy) starting to feel what I think is the baby moving around. It is not every day either. Really wouldn't worry.

No need to worry, you could have an anterior placenta which will greatly reduce the amount of movements you feel, plus every pregnancy is different so you shouldn't model your expectations of this one on your last, iyswim.

Oh thanks, that is reassuring. Hopefully it will kick in soon, so to speak!

I didn't feel my second any earlier than my first.

have you had an appointment with the MW where the hearbeat was heard? i am sure all is well, and that there is no sinister reason you can;t feel kicks.. might be that you have an anterior placenta, as has been mentioned. or the baby is kicking towards your back
if you are worried, then please call midwife and see if you can arrange a time to be seen for some reassurance.

I didn't feel either of my first two until around 20 weeks.

my first was 14 wks, second 10 weeks and third 20 weeks so try not to panic. mw or gp will be happy to put your mind at rest

I got to 22 weeks with dd and hadn't felt anything. I rang the hospital for advice and the mw said to drink a really really cold glass of water (fill a glass with ice and add water) and lie down and relax for an hour. Sure enough I felt a kick within about 5 mins of the cold drink.

Thanks for responses. Yes, have heard heartbeat - a couple of weeks ago. Glad to hear I'm not the only one not feeling movement at this stage - I'll still feel better once I do though!
