Will I ever drink tea again? Please say yes

I have totally gone off tea since week 5 (now 13wks).

I am genuinely a bit upset about this as really loved my Earl grey, endless redbush and nice cup of decaff in the evenings.

Does the love of tea come back??

I went right off coffee and now have to limit myself again. It will return, don't worry!!

I like tea, but only with sugar and I didn't have sugar in it before pg. A friend told me she permanently went off red wine, which scared me somewhat but thankfully my taste for alchol returned unscathed after pg!

I am still off earlgrey, and my dd2 is 15 months. I developed a love of strong, sweet 'hospital' tea instead, but I blame that on having 2 babies in 2 years, so quite a bit of time in hospital!

Couldn't drink teas at all throughout both of my pregnancies - as soon as I had them I could drink it again!

I never drank tea or coffee but am 11 weeks and currently off nearly all foods and most drinks.. It is seriously starting to get me down I just want to be able to resume a 'normal' diet!! Is that so much to ask?! Sorry the nausea is driving me cuckoo today....

I used to drink loads of redbush and finding it really difficult to drink now. It might be because I am pregnant, or maybe my colleagues are right and its just disgusting

yet again nothing to with him.
just wanted to say thanks so much for all you help, it really did help me let off steam talkiing to you guys about it esp you.
and i did not want you to think i had not really left you much of a reply on that other thread but i bet dh will look at it.

Poor you Millie. I had severe hyperemsis with my pg so couldn't eat or drink anything. I so missed tea it was awful. I couldn't imagine it ever going but.... I had a c section in the end, and the next day had tea, cake, pasta with a garlic sauce, pizza.... mmm. I just ate and ate! It was fabulous! (although I am now a stone heavier than before, so recommend stopping eating at some point...)

So yes, it will come back. And you can have a nice biccie with it too, being a new mum and all

no worries! just glad to have been of help.

DS is so high in my uterus at present LOTS of my fav foods have had to go by the wayside.

i'm hungry and miss them, but it also means i won't have very much weight to lose once he's here .

I only wanted to drink tea again after the birth. Like you though during pg I thought I would never drink it again. Oddly though some of the foods I went off in pregnancy I still can't eat - spinach, salmon spring to mind

It's weird isnt it? Thanks for all your replies.

Hopefully I'll be one of those that gets the craving back. Drinking redbush was how I stayed hydrated as really hate drinking water.

Oh well, I'd rather have a baby than a cup of tea if given the choice

Maybe.. but I still can't face some things I went off while expecting DS 2 years ago!

I hope your taste for tea returns.

I went off it as well, kept having DH make me cups and then not being able to face drinking them. It was AWFUL. am back on now, probably started again at about 22 weeks.

Also went off sausages in both pregnancies.

I went off tea with dd2, who is now 11. I still can't drink "normal" tea but now love Earl Grey, which I didn't like before.

Just to be odd. I didn't use to like tea but I have been craving (and drinking and very much enjoying) at least a cup of earl grey a day throughout my PG.

I'm hoping it won't go away and start tasting disgusting again once DC is born, as I'm getting rather fond of tea...

I am totally off tea and coffee - not a bad thing as I have anemia and the tannins in tea can bind with iron and stop absorption. I also have lovely white teeth with no staining!

Can't stand the smell of tea, can just about manage a very weak milky coffee if I have to drink one to be polite...

I went off tea too whilst pregnant with DS who's now 2. Never really got into it again, am now a hardened coffee drinker. Quite miss tea though but just don't fancy it anymore. Weird.

I always go off tea when I'm pregnant. So far I've gone back to drinking it after giving birth. However when I was pg with dd4 I went right off the taste of artificial sweeteners and I still can't bear the taste now. This pregnancy I can't stand the taste of wine-I'm hoping that doesn't continue afterwards .
