brother is getting married in less than 5 weeks and have to get a dress! am 28 weeks at mo and only 5'4 but my bump is huuuuge and black seems to be the most flattering colour as takes away attention from my hugeness. Before i go ordering all the above (dont really want to as a lot to come off our card and dh getting stroppy about it) want to know if any one has the above or seen etc to give opinion?

I have a similar isabella dress in raspberry but with long sleeves...sits nice and comfy. Im 5"5 size 8 and enormous bump. Got 15% off price.
The tumtum looks nice too.
Its difficult choosing clothes on line and knowing u might not get much wear.
good luck

I had an isobella oliver one of a similar style, it always looked really nice, except for the last few weeks, when the only thing that fitted was tracksuit bottoms and large tshirts

I have the IO one, as others have said it's v pretty, although it is quite clingy - found I had to be careful on the knicker front, and generally only wear it with Spanx maternity pants, which basically go from bust to knee, so no VPL or unsightly bulges. Although you may, unlike me, be a size 6, so not concerned about bulging...

I have the cap wrap dress in black - it's more of a work dress to be honest.
Another idea - I just went to a wedding at 36 weeks and although I usually prefer Isabella Oliver etc I was pleasantly surprised with this dress from the Next directory - code 417-490-X42 at next.co.uk in case link here doesn't work.
You can't see the back but it ties in a cream bow and I wore it with a black and cream fascinator and a cream wrap.
I had an 8 but would normally call myself a 10 - as I say I am very pregnant so you might want to go down a size.

I've got the IO ruffle wrap dress - very similar - for my brother's wedding next week. It's in black and I've got a fascinator thingy for in my hair which has black, purple and teal (it's v.nice - honest) Teaming it with teal coloured shoes, bag and jewellery. Dress is v. nice and very slimming, and I was a big girl before I fell pregnant

sorry guys but whats a 'fasinator'???? Im liking the IO one, as it is now only just over 4 weeks i was going to get the short sleeved one because i havent worn long sleeves the whole pg as too hot!

slinkie... do you not think with strappy sandals, what i call my 'sparkly' jewellery etc the dress would be dressy enough?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascinator - I had to look it up

A fascinator is one of those little feather concoctions for your hair.

I had a lovely wrap dress from Crave - looked great and really really comfortable. I wore it last at 38 weeks. Their dresses are well worth a look. Their website is here

Also, I bought a gorgeous black tie maternity dress on eBay. If you aren't averse to second hand, it is worth a look. Often people buy an expensive maternity dress for one special event and then want to sell it on as they won't use it again, so you can get an almost new dress very cheaply.

I also have the IO raspberry wrap dress. Agree with all of the above - looks fab (and I'm only 5'3) but do need to be careful with knickers and I also had to wear a little camisole underneath as it can be a bit gaping around the bosoms!

Got mine on ebay for half the price and it was in great condition. Always seems to be someone selling a variation of it on ebay so worth having a look!

Had a look on ebay but there is only a shoking green one! Dont want to leave it till the last minute to buy a dress as already panicking abit!

I think there are a couple of places online where you can hire really pretty maternity dresses from (so just pay for use for day, rather than spend loads on a dress you'll only wear once) - worth googling. Know a couple of friends who did this.

I have the IO wrap ruffle dress - v pretty. Have also invested in pretty Tara Jarmon dress (non maternity but very floaty flowing shift dress which will fit in a couple of weeks for wedding and again in two months for another wedding) - worth taking a look at her stuff as is generally v generous cuts and really pretty (so you can wear post baby with pretty belt tying the waist in).

Good luck finding your outfit.

I ordered the IO dress for a wedding but it gaped too much at the chest, and also was too revealing at the split bit, so I sent it back.
Ended up getting Bella Mama Cheyne Aloe dress which was a great little wrap dress

at the split, do you mean because it is a wrap over?

Why not order and try it, mad4 - I have ordered loads from IO and they are very good about returns, never had any problems, send it back postage paid in the bag etc.
I have the empire line dress as well which is quite cocktail-like and a bit dressier (maybe cold in Oct though).
The ruffle dress could be an option but wasn't for me as personally am utterly fed up of wrap dresses and they always gape on the chest like others have said.

Hello, sorry should have been more specific, yes the dress gaped at the wrap bit over the legs, there didn't seem to be enough of a wrapover with the fabric to be able to move much in the dress without giving everyone an eyeful! The next size up would have been too big.
Ooooohhhhhhh, that Seraphine Swirly dress is simply gorgeous!!!! Now, why didn't they have that when I was pregnant... Mock wraps are so much better, you don't have to worry about showing too much chest or leg! What a shame they won't be available in time. Crave or Picchu maternity usually have a nice selection, have you looked there?

That grape Picchu one is gorgeous - I struggled to find anything that wasn't black and that would have been lovely. Oh well, it'll have to wait for baby number 3!!

I have the exact IO one in green. It is nice but beware of under arm sweat patches (nice!). I have to wear mine with a little T shirt underneath.

I've got the Isabella Oliver dress in black. It has got me through all events while pregnant this time around, jazzed up with bright accessories, and fits me as well at 31 weeks pregnant as it did at 14 weeks.
