My cat, who is 18, has started bringing mice into the house, we didn't even know she hunted! She's also started attacking DH's foot. I told him it's because I'm pregnant and she wants attention. Has anyone else's cat/dog been behaving strangely since they got pg. xxx

Yep - one of mine definitely knows something's up - he's been whining for my attention and bringing me gifts!

Yep MIL's haughty horrible cat who used to ignore everyone but MIL both developed a liking for SIL and I when we were pregnant and were honoured with her presence on our laps!

Get some cat pheremones from the vet.(Yes really) They come as an aroma thing that you plug in and you cant smell them at all.
My cat went mental when I had DS and the vet advised to get them. It calms the cat down completely tricking them into thinking they are happy

It must be because their place in the household is threatened! Am going to try that loujay in case our's goes bananas. She's totally scared of my six and three year old nieces, although was quite good with my friend's nine year old, she still went and hid under the bed! But hunting is a totally new thing for her.

My dog has been really friendly and sniffing at my bump - I can't believe that she can smell anything?!!!

At the weekend I was visiting my sister who has a young boxer bitch. The dog would not leave me alone! My sis said she had never seen her like that. She would just sit infront of me and stare at me. Wherever I was she wanted to be. It was so funny! Im only 7 weeks aswell so not even a bump yet!

my cats are acting a little bit strange too, not too much but enough.
my oldest cat (moo) has taken to staring at me when he thinks im not looking, and resting on my bump, and then giving it a funny look if it happens to kick, although he is still very loving,
my kitten on the other hand will not leave me alone for a minute, i cannot even go to the toilet or have a bath without him having to be there, otherwise he screams at me! he will sit on me IN THE BATH, and he also has now began to attack my boobs through my clothes!(probably colustrum smell)

Yep! When i first found out i was pregnant, i was quite protective of my bump naturally. i have 2 cats (they're brothers) and the one is affectionate but doesnt have a lot to do with me. However from about 6 weeks - 12 weeks, he'd follow me everywhere and at night, he'd sit on my bump where the baby was growing. He'd never done this before and even if i pushed him off, he'd get back on. He wasnt asking for love - he was just protecting me. I think he knew something was different!

My husbands dog gets really affectionate when i'm pregnant. she cuddles up to my bump and puts her legs over it! my dog wont let anyone he doesnt know near me when i;m pregnant if i'm out walking him on my own without DH. He becomes a protector.

i think animals sense something even though they dont understand fully whats going on.

I've seen a couple of articles/programs about animals sensing when their owners are going to have a fit or other medical problem and alerting the person before it actually happens, so that they can sit down etc, it's really spooky!

Don't get me started on the killing things! My cat always goes nuts with this when Im pregnant. She kills the odd thing when Im not but its virtually been daily in both my pregnancies.

Touch wood she hasnt done this this time around but last time I was asleep on the sofa and she actually came and dropped it on my lap. And yes it is possible for an 8 month pregnant woman to jump 10 foot in the air lol

Our cat who was 11 at the time brought a couple of mice in the house when I was pg with ds. He had never done it before!
I think cats can sense something is going on.
He also used to sit proudly on my bump and purr like crazy.
Sadly he is no longer with us, but would have been interesting to see how he would react to this pg.

She's feeding you. The attacking of your husbands foot is probably senility. My cat brought me a huge pigeon when I was pregnant with ds2 - he had never hunted before and never did after I had the baby. I knew it was for me, because he brought it to the door then came and fetched me ("Maow!")
