Flu-like symptoms before labour

Hello
I have heard that it is common for some women to experience flu-like symptoms just before the onset of labour.

I was wondering if it's true or just old wives' tales as I am 38 + 3 and been feeling crap since yesterday!

I don't know as I havn't heard it myself but I'd imagine it true for some individuals due to the change of hormones etc. I remember feeing really rotten, like I was coming down with the flu just before I discovered I was pregnant, but nothing became of it (apart from a baby that is!) so it really wouldn't suprise me if it were true at the other end of pregnancy, so good luck, I'm about a week behind you and I find I'm itching for it to begin so every little thing makes me think, is this it?

I know!

I'm so at the stage where everything is ready and all we need now is for the little one to make his way out.

Is your baby engaged at all? How are you finding these last few weeks? Do you know what you're having? Part of me feels like they are such a drag and I just cannot wait any longer to meet him and the other part feels its like an extended xmas eve and I'm just enjoying my time with the DP just the two of us.

Well this is my 2nd so I've had to run around with a toddler- trying to teach her to share her toys with future little brother is proving to be a challenge....

Baby last time I checked wasn't yet engaged (last week) but obviously things might have changed right now.
I've sent DH to the spare room as lack of sleep was proving to be a problem, set up the baby's cot and washed all the little clothes, and am now looking forward to the whole thing!

I remember with DD in the last fortnight or so we used to eat out practically every night- it was fun. This time round I am taking it easy in preparation for the lack of sleep and looking after 2 rather than 1...

This is interesting - my due date is tomorrow and I felt like complete crap this morning. Then again, I did have a rotten cold last week so I expect it's just wishful thinking.

Good luck to you both, I hope all our babies hurry up and get here soon!

And to you cyteen! It will be interesting to see if there is any truth in the old wives tale!

I'm just finishing washing all his clothes too! His room is ready and waiting for him and it smells of baby wipes and paint! Oooohh its so excting!
