I have been having braxton hicks now for a week and I am only 16 weeks!
I don't have them all the time, just a few times a day and it takes my breath away. Just wondering if anyone else has had this?

I didn't experience them myself that early and am only just aware of them now (36 weeks) but I have read that we get them from the beginning of pregnancy, whether you are aware of them at all though is entirely down to your body.

i never got them at all in my 1st pg but have them my 2nd pg, i had them from 4 months till 6months then it returned back again about 7.5 months to now..its getting stronger (im nearly 37 weeks). At 4 months i had a very dull heavy pain across my belly and i felt i had to hold my belly too. Now at 37 weeks its rock solid at most times and hurts!. i have to rub my belly or have a bath to relax the BH.

Yes I've had them from 15 weeks this time (now 39 weeks and they are very powerful at this point!) MW says I probably have a slightly irritable uterus as this will be my third baby in five years.

At least I am not alone! I had a c section with ds so maybe it could be something to do with my Uterus. Didn't realise you could get them that early!
With ds I got them from about 35 weeks.
Petitfilou - could be close then lol!

I had them very early with my second pregnancy and often had to stop what I was doing as they were so stong. So yes, I think it's normal.

They can take my breath away! Not good when driving, have to open the window and take lots of deep breaths!

I have been having BH from very early on with this pg - please make sure you are very well hydrated as this seems to mske a difference.

Also make sure your midwife rules out any urinary infection as they can cause similar cramping and can irritate the uterus.

Thanks Teuch! I have been trying to drink plenty as the other day I felt very light headed and thought I may be dehydrated.

Only had one BH today so far and it was very slight.

Am feeling broody today as my friend has just had a baby girl!
