Can't you just get a kit to freeze it off? I'd ask a pharmacist but I've seen them advertised on tv recently and don't see why you couldn't use one.

Went to doc 2 weeks ago with a wart on my knee (!).

She said I could treat it while pg with bazooka as it's topical so as long as i didn't get it in my eyes or mouth it was ok (I managed to resist the temptation to lick it).

When I bought it at pharmacy she said I couldn't use the stuff to freeze it off and normally they wouldn't recommend anything but ok as I'd seen the doc.

Can take ages to clear though.

Good luck

Oh, tell me if anything works!
i have had a massive verruca on my foot for YEARS, and i've tried all sorts; over the counter stuff, freezing it at Boots, banana skin, tea tree oil, herbal remedies, etc.
Nothing has shifted it, tho the freezing i thought had worked (couple of hundred quid later ) so i stopped going, then it came back

Have been pg or feeding for 3 years now so waiting until Jan when i hope to stop and get my body back!

Bought some Wartner in the supermarket the other day but the instructions say not to use when bf.

Good luck!

If you want something natural, my nephew swears by banana skin! Cut a bit of banana skin so that it covers the verucca and put it 'fruit side' to your foot, tape on with micropore and put a sock over. It took a couple of weeks I think, and he only did it at night (obviously) but it worked!

GreenMonkies · 18/08/2008 10:32

Tagetes essential oil got rid of two huge ones on my heels after bazuka, wartner, tea tree and banana skin failed.

I was pg and bf at the time!

Doctors are now recommending Duct Tape! Put a small square over the verruca and leave it for around 6 days. Remove for 12 hours and put a fresh piece on.

It's worked better and faster than any other treatment in tests.

I've been meaning to try it but it's on one of my toes and I don't want to do it over summer as I think it will look pretty silly with sandals!

I've been having mine frozen every 4 weeks by the gp all the way through my pregnancy... ask your surgery if they have a wart clinic.

About the only thing i haven't tried is the banana skin just because i haven't got round to it yet.
Will try the breast milk when i have the baby (due on weds!!!) failing that i am going to have it lasered (sp?) after the baby is born. Had mine for years and nothing works, doing my head in!!!

I think if you are even a little bit run down they become very stubborn and in pregnancy your body is too busy doing other things to fight it properly..just my totally made up theory.

GOOD LUCK!

"A recent study found that covering a wart with strong adhesive tape is likely to clear the wart within a month or two. (Duct tape was used in the study.) In this study, about 7 in 10 warts had cleared within two months with using duct tape. It may be worth a try as it is painless. However, further studies are needed to clarify the role of this treatment. The method described in the study was:

"The wart was covered with duct tape for six days. If the tape fell off during this time a fresh piece of tape was put on.

  • After six days, the tape was removed and the wart soaked in warm water for five minutes. After drying it was then gently rubbed with an emery board or pumice stone to get rid of dead tissue from the top of the wart.
  • The wart was then left uncovered overnight and duct tape put on again the next day.
  • Treatment was continued for up to two months. (Note: most warts that cleared with duct tape did so within 28 days.)"

I used Wartner on my hand. I didn't finish reading the instructions until after I'd used it and then saw it said "not while pregnant".

Well, too late! Worked brilliantly. I am still alive and healthy as is baby! Since it only involves gas under pressure, not drugs I can't see why you can't use it. I guess it's because they haven't tested it on pregnant women and therefore can't say it's OK on pregnant women.

I found it stung a little for a few day, but that was all. I'm a wimp and it was easily bare-able!

For some people it does go in a few week to 1-2 years, but some people don't seem to be immune to the virus and do need help. The Duct Tape method is getting really popular with GP's now and is supposed to be very good. Worth a try.

Ds2 has a horrible wart on his thumb which I have been putting lavender and tea tree oil on, to no avail (not sure if lavender is OK in pregnancy so I'm not recommending that for the OP). I might try the duct tape.

Report
TinkerBellesMum · 19/08/2008 14:52

If you do duct tape on the thumb you might want to put something over it (like micropore) to protect it or it'll come off easily and look a little silly! If you do it just big enough to cover the wart you might be able to put a finger plaster over it.

It comes in different colours (usually black or silver though) and has a weave through it. It is very thick and heavy duty.

Your GP (or nurse) will treat it with liquid nitrogen. This usually needs more than 1 treatment though (maybe 3 or 4) but does work! Over the counter treatments are not as effective and are expensive too

Alexa808 · 20/09/2008 03:38

Bazooka Verruca does the job nicely. It's the only OTC product I found that worked.

Otherwise as Coconutmum says: liquid nitrogen.

I've read lots about this once and cider vinegar is supposed to be brilliant. you soak a plaster in it and stick it over the verucca. i think you need to change the plaster daily. after only a week in most cases, the verucca or wart had turned black and then fell off! try
